So now that the buzz around the 25th Anniversary has had a few weeks to calm down, I was just wondering if anyone knew how attendance was doing. Have the new lite additions, some which have recieved mixed reviews online really been packing in the crowds since April 15th. Both Paris and Hong Kong Disney Resorts have annouced some rather impressive results in the recent financial results released by Disney. So things should be looking up for Tokyo Disney Resort too, right?

Well, I was there two Mondays ago, in the thick of Golden Week, so it was crowded as usual.

In fact, they opened the gates thirty minutes earlier than posted. I suppose someone else could chime in as to how typical that was.

As far as the shows, the lame, lame, super lame castle "show" seems to be a huge draw. Crowded to be sure, and some guests (not many though) sat down from early morning to catch it.

The parade seemed to have even more crowds than usual (even in my typically easy to access "secret spot"...we still got a good view 5 minutes before showtime, but if it were any more crowded we wouldn't have)...I'm not sure if that's just the Golden Week crowds, the fact that the parade is new, or a combination of both.

So, I'd say it's busy as usual but it's hard to tell whether that was just Golden Week...I've certainly seen the park far MORE crowded, that's for sure. I doubt they closed off the ticket sales that day or anything (that happens more often during summer and holiday events, I think).

Thanks for the update X-san

I think the problem with the Anniversary is that its hard to monitor how the crowds are going to be, thanks to this event being rolled out in phases. Seeing that Jubilation is going to be performed all year, why would you visit now when you can come for Halloween and get more vaule for your money. I also wonder how many are waiting until the new Hotel opens before deciding to visit!

One thing I did notice recently was that, when others were commenting about how light the crowds were (even on the date of the anniversary)...TDL was well aware of it in advance.

They published their crowd estimates and, much like they mentioned my day to be quite crowded, they noted that the anniversary week would be pretty dead with the anniversary day being only slightly busy (SuperDry and I were rather shocked the place was so empty that week).

By the way, here's my unscientific but very accurate measurement for when Tokyo Disneyland is "stupid crowded".

The park is stupid crowded when the lines for Big Thunder and Splash Mountain collide somewhere around the Rivers of America (anyone familiar with the layout will realize how insane THAT is :p).
All times are Pacific Time (US)
