Yes ... in honor of Marty 'I birthed Walt and taught John Hench how to paint' Sklar and Dave 'I can tell you where every DL bathroom in the 1960s was located' Smith, I thought I'd offer up a thread about what's wrong with so many in the fan community.

I'll save some hardballs for later. And start with a softball, but something that really ticks me off ...

Fans who know Jack Wagner only for some stupid closing the doors on the monorail spiel in Espanol instead of the amazing wealth of work the 'Voice of WDW' did before his passing.

I'd venture to say that 90% of the people (yeah, I'm pulling that number out of ... ) who think it's cool to repeat the inane spiel have absolutely no clue who Jack was.

Sad.

Now, please, add your own thoughts, peeves, complaints ... I have others, but I'm interested in hearing yours.

And here I always considered Jack Wagner "The Voice of Disneyland"...

My pet peeve? "Fans" who find it just pathetic that the general public doesn't know details about anonymous announcers who have been gone since 1995, but will turn around and make mean spirited and demeaning comments about Disney Company personalities who are not only still with us, but who bother to offer honest responses when they feel the work of their colleagues is under unwarranted attack.

Sad.

God forbid anything be said against those sacred Disney cows that are still with us.

Said with tongue firmly in cheek.

People who call the theme park with the castle in Florida "DisneyWorld".

On that same theme-- people who say "What's the difference?" between Disneyland and Walt Disney World. My standard reply is, "16 years and 3000 miles."

Also have a pet peeve with fans who will get into a passionate argument about some arcane matter, then finish off by accusing the most knowledgeable one in the group of not having a life.

And a pet peeve (of the gentler variety) with fans who really, really get something wrong, but insist it's right.

As in:
"My family and I first visited Disneyland during Christmas in 1954. My sister and I rode the Matterhorn over and over again. It was decorated for the holidays with Swiss dolls from small world..."

When it is pointed out that:
A.) Disneyland opened in Summer of 1955, and,
B.) The Matterhorn opened in 1959, and,
C.) it's a small world opened in 1965, and,
D.) The Matterhorn was never decorated for Christmas, let alone with small world dolls,
they will hotly reply, "I know it was Christmas 1954 because that was the year we moved from Ohio to California. And my sister and I remember clearly that we rode the Matterhorn. And we even have pictures somewhere of us with the dolls. I know it."

At that point, I just smile and say, warmly, "What a wonderful memory to cherish all these years..."

That has happened to me frequently.

My pet peave is a fan community that walk around blindly not recognising the changes that are hurting the quality of the product and jump on you for pointing them out.

I also agree with a number here. I also hate that people think the MK is the best theme park ever when they have never been anywhere else other than WDW.
