WDW fans (specifically) who, when learning that one is a Disneyland fan, smugly announce, "You could put all of Disneyland in our parking lot."
Based on that criteria, Animal Kingdom is the finest theme park ever built, since all of the MK as well as most of DHS and a smidgeon of Epcot would fit within its boundaries... |

In all fairness, for many of us long time visitors that is it out of habit, since the MK was Disneyworld when it first opened. My first visit was over 30 years ago and to this day I find my self saying "okay, today we're gonna go to Epcot and Disney", only to be corrected by my wife, who has been on every trip with me over those 30 years. "No, honey we're going to Epcot and the Magic Kingdom". Someday I'll get it. |

That's mine. People have to learn that it's okay to criticize the things that you love. In many cases I would venture to say that the people who are the most outspoken about Disney's faults are the ones that love Disney the most. |

Sat 5/10/2008 10:07a | You know, there are different levels of 'fan.' One can be a fan, and devote every waking moment surrounding themselves with the minutiae of the company and its history.
But one can also be a casual fan who enjoys the surface and chooses not to look too closely, either because they don't have time or they don't want to shatter the illusion.
And of course one could land anywhere between those two ends of the spectrum.
With that said, the only thing I have ever found wrong with a fan is when one thinks he is better than other fans.
Sometimes they think they're better because they're more knowledgeable. That's annoying.
But especially annoying for me is when they believe their opinion is the right one, and anyone who disagrees is obviously not a 'true fan.'
And the internet has just made it all the worser. Jab. Hide. Jab. Hide. Jab. Hide. |

And all this on a(GASP)Disney message board.
Fortunately one of the most outspoken examples of this and other odious behaviours was expelled a little while back. |

I guess it depends on which coast you grew up on.
Jack was the official voice of WDW. He was the one you heard on WDW Radio welcoming you to the Vacation Kingdom of the World as soon as you left Kissimmee's cow pastures behind.
He was the one who helped plan your day with up to date hours and information.
And then his voice was featured all over the resort.
Jack Wagner was The Voice of WDW.

Thanks for adding your pet peeve. That was the purpose of the thread.
As to the 'Disney personalties' you mention, I guess maybe you think they're not open to shots like anyone else?
I like Marty. I know the man. I've dined with him in the real world. I've dealt with him on a professional level as well. But he's at heart a PR man ... and one who sold a chunk of his soul to remain with the company the past decade. The recent criticism that has been leveled at him is richly deserved.
As to Dave Smith ... well, there's not much I can say here other than if he's someone who you look up to and admire you need to choose better. He's a troubled spirit and I really get creeped out by the worship that some fans give him.

A pet peeve on the same wavelength would be the inability of some in the fan community to not understand how you can criticize something and still love it all the same.
I am often critical of my Mother, but I love her dearly and am so glad she'll be around to spend Mother's Day with me.
Too many people think in very simple terms: black or white, good or bad, liberal or conservative, paper or plastic, Disney or Pixar ... the world is a complex place.

If all you've had is steak at Sizzler, how would you know how much better Morton's is?
And if you weren't able to afford Morton's ... or if you felt you didn't belong there ... wouldn't it make you even more defensive about your choice?
