(There is no one known as "The Voice of Walt Disney World," but if there was, it would certainly be the talented and ubiquitous Jack Wagner.)
>>As to the 'Disney personalties' you mention, I guess maybe you think they're not open to shots like anyone else?<< No, I don't. And certainly not cheap shots. But I do think they, like anyone else, are open for warranted criticism.
>>I like Marty... The recent criticism that has been leveled at him is richly deserved.<< Yes, but not the uncharacteristic cheap shot that opened this thread.
>>As to Dave Smith ... He's a troubled spirit and I really get creeped out by the worship that some fans give him.<< I disagree that the only available choices are "creeped out" or "worship." Or, as a much older but wiser person said in Post #20: >>Too many people think in very simple terms: black or white, good or bad...<< |

I'd be in the former group. As much as I enjoy Disney's American parks, the only way I'd spend time at Disney overseas is if I was living in Paris, Tokyo or Hong Kong for an extended period of time. Or if I had the luxury of travelling overseas regularly, then I'm sure I'd try out Disney's foreign offerings. There's just something about going overseas to surround oneself in American culture that disturbs me. It's like going to Moscow and eating at McDonald's. I'm probably in the minority here, but that's how I see it.
Then again I'm a person who would spend all day at the National Gallery, so I'm probably not the typical Disney consumer. |

Yet, are upset when they are exhausted, irritated, and mad that they did not get to do much of anything at the parks during their vacation. |

Better of course is in the eyes of the beholder. For me, it sort of works out that way. I like the older stuff more than the new stuff...
I like 'Mine Train Through Nature's Wonderland' better than 'Big Thunder Mountain.'
To me, 'Carousel of Progress' was better than 'America Sings'
'CircleVision 360' was better than 'Buzz Lightyear' ride.
'PeopleMover' was better than 'Rocket Rods'
'Walt Disney's Enchanted Tiki Room' is better than 'Under New Management.'
'Swiss Family Treehouse' is better than 'Tarzan's Treehouse.'
'Mission to Mars' is better than 'Redd Rockett's Pizza Port.'
'Tomorrowland Theater' was better than 'Homey, I Shrunk the Audience.'
'Country Bear Jamboree' was better than 'The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh.'
'Seasons of the Vine' is better than a 'DCA Preview Center.'
Now, I've not actually seen the DCA Preview Center, but I can safely say that I like 'Seasons of the Vine' better. |

'Pirates of the Caribbean' [at Disneyland -- the original older one] is better than 'Pirates of the Caribbean' in Florida's Magic Kingdom.
I like the shops in the parks, back when they had more than Disney stuffed animals, corny T-shirts, and character related stuff.
The 'older' stores [I'm thinking of the ones in New Orleans Square in particualr] had interesting things to look at and buy. |

| DlandDug Sat 5/10/2008 5:19p | There are many older things I like better. There are some newer things that simply are better. My pet peeve is fans who believe that the older "originals" are inherently better, for no other reason than that they are older. |

Isn't that an example of "Too many people think in very simple terms: black or white, good or bad.." |

No, as it isn't a qualified statement. In context, it was simply a comparison. |
