| mousermerf Sun 5/11/2008 10:25a | Pet Peeve: The argument thrown around that "the general public will love it" and "it's just whiny fan boys complaining" when a lesser attraction/experience/etc is introduced.
Oh, or "it's subjective." Oo, i hate that. Life is subjective - are we really here? Is this a dream? At some point you have to make an assumption and make judgments based on it. Hiding behind it being subjective serves no purpose other then to promote something.
Also, "wait till you experience it in person." Has this argument ever been used to say something was bad? Nope, just to try and keep it the mentality positive or neutral.
And finally, the fans who can't see they're doing this and claim they're not just trying to be "up with Disney" and are actually looking at things with any sort of critical eye.

| SFH Sun 5/11/2008 11:00a | Speaking of Jack Wagner, I hurt myself laughing so hard at his explanation of why a certain word was the most interesting word in the English language.
There is some funny "Family Unfriendly" Wagner stuff out there.

Can we get back to the pet peeves?>
It's all subjective, Doug. Saying something is "simply better" assumes that everyone's going to share your opinion.
So getting back to pet peeves, I hate when fans think that a change is "simply better" or "simply worse." That's simply not true. There are advantages and disadvantages to all changes. |

Saying something is "simply better" assumes that everyone's going to share your opinion.<< No, it assumes that, in certain instances, there exists an actual generally agreed upon standard for bad and good. Not everyone agrees, but I do believe it is possible. |

I guess I'm going to have to accept your pet peeve.
But threads must stand on their own merits. If people want that thread to go on and on and on ... it will.
And, frankly, while I greatly appreciate the sentiments that caused you to start the thread, I'm not thrilled with being the center of attention.
I don't feel I'm nearly as interesting as what I have to say ... but I guess others disagree ;-) |

Oh that bit is SOOOOOOOOOOO funny.
Classic doesn't even do it justice. GREAT STUFF! |

Exactly. I didn't start this as mega-serious deal ... more of the little stuff of fandom that gets on my nerves and wanted to see what/how others thought/felt.
Here's another: 'fans' who refuse to believe things that happened in the past BEFORE they started visiting. |
