Topic: Question about Art ?

1	teddibubbles Sat 5/10/2008 10:38a	Hello I have kind of run into a block. I never have money for art supplies. so when I see a deal on something on my very few trips out of town I buy it. I'm into Acrylic pants right now. and here is the deal. just pretend I mistakenly did a really great piece of art painting. I am using my last bargain of 20x10 UNSTRECHED sheets of canvas. NOW I feel very sad and down. because I don't understand what ANYONE could do with this stuff. if its a painting. you don't see that kind of stuff stuffed under glass. and as it has no backbone to it. so how could you ever think to have it framed? this is really is the only thing I have to paint on. and wanted to try to make some stuff to try to get some money off of. I am at artiest block now! what can I do?
2	smedley Sat 5/10/2008 12:16p	teddi, could you pick up some 1x1 and have your DH make up a frame for you that you could then stretch the canvas over yourself?? I know my friend has done this before with some success.
3	FerretAfros Sat 5/10/2008 1:59p	I've bought several sizes of oil paintings without frames on them (ranging from around the size of a piece of paper to over 5 feet wide) on vacation in places. It comes in really handy, since you can just roll them up and take them home with you. I've taken them to the framing places, and they are able to either mount them on a flat surface and frame that, or build a wood frame to stretch it over, and then frame that. Either way, it costs about the same (don't remember the prices, but they said that they were pretty much the same) and it seemed like it was a fairly standard procedure for them.
4	teddibubbles Sat 5/10/2008 8:55p	wow thank you both very much. iv been holding back from doing any more things.. not knowing if it was junk to do them. I am sopose to have been doing my second instalment of paintings for that disney person to look over.. but the last few weeks i was hurting.. and didnt try.. now i was holding back becuse of the canvas.. so I guess I can get going on that POTC painting now. thank you so very much!
