xPPx, I thought the same thing about the decimal even before I saw your post
#5. As a math teacher the word "and" in a number refers to a decimal point(the number 208 is two hundred eight, not two hundred and eight) But you'd never even say "...and eight" without adding tenths, hundredth etc after the eight.

That's another weird thing - 'and' here in maths (which is how it's spelt here ... isn't it funny considering we speak the same language!) isn't used to mean a decimal point. I don't think anyone here would ever say 'two hundred eight' or take 'two hundred and eight' to mean 200.8. Cultural differences are fascinating! (Or maybe I'm just weird).

We're all quite mad, LB :)

Kind of like how the Americans say "sports" and the British say "sport"...or we say "spoiled" and they say "spoilt" :)

I'm not buying the "'and' always equals 'decimal point'" notion, either. "And" can mean "point" or it can mean "plus" or it can mean "conjoined with." It's what's known in logic as an "overloaded operator."

B...I prefer B

But I am thinking about C.

I look at it this way.
1908...would be Nineteen-Oh-Eight.

Although, I never quite understood replacing the number zero with the letter or sound "O"
