OK ssturgeo, I have added every website to my favorites to use when we go in December!! THANKS!!!

I also love this from the first post: >>>I try to purchase little surprises for her for the car and/or plane trip such as sticker books, etc. I usually start that several months ahead of time and then pull them out when we start the trip.<<<< This is the first time we'll be going with the kids so this is PERFECT! Our Dollar Store here in town always has Disney stuff - I'll definitely be stocking up! Hopefully that will help with the plane ride!

I really like the staging area idea too - that's one we'll be using too!

The main thing that I always do is the countdown calendar - I have one at work and it REALLY helps me get thru the day some days that its getting closer!
I also am a list freak so I make a list of everything I need to pack and usually start at least 2 weeks (but usually a month) before the actual trip.
I also get a brand new pair of tennis shoes and start breaking them in about 2 weeks before the trip too.

ssturgeo, you are like the diva of all things Disney. *on knees, doing the "Please, Salami" thing (my kids call it that!)* I join with LadyKluck's sentiments!

Now, about that anal thing mentioned along with potties, miss ssturgeo...that was quite an interesting remark.

999HAUNTS...seeing how you are sweet enough to offer princess bandages for my wounded heart, are you a fan of Kurt Russell, per chance? Oh! Was he a hottie back in the days, or what?!?!? Still is!

Anyway, I've combined one of my favorite things (him) with one of yours (HM) in the link below. If you haven't seen it yet, enjoy! (and be sure to watch part 2 from the same contributor)

(I'm tellin' ya, this YouTube thing is truly a tradition now for preparing for my next triumphant arrival at DL!) xoxo

I have created a one page word document listing - dates & times/flights & confirmation #s, locations & addresses/phone numbers for each day of our trip. I e-mailed the schedule to everyone that is going on our trip and for people who might meet us along the way. Today is 60 days out and I just made reservations for 19 at Goofy's Kitchen!!! I can't wait. I have matching t-shirts from the Disney Store for 10 of us - for at least 2 days. I check LP everyday and turn on LP Radio. We get hip packs for all of the kids and I make child ids for all the kids with hotel info on the back and our cell phone numbers. I keep a set of ids with me and put one in each of the kids hip packs. We will fill up their hip packs with gummy snacks, fish crackers and bubble gum. Maybe a pair of sunglasses and a pocket size personal fan - its hot to us Spokane people in July at DL. I'm waiting for our AAA Disneyland vacation pack. It should be here in a month.

I forgot the little things like buying extra batteries for the digital camera and making sure are of the memory cards are clean

...buying a few snack foods, candy, beef jerky and bottled water. (I enjoy eating in the park but also like a little something to munch on if a queue is longish.)

preparing the belt pack to make sure that the AP's rain ponchos, Stitch nametage and my LP button are all there.

going through the trading pins that we may have purchased on the last or previous visits to see if I need to add to an existing lanyard or start a new one and then making sure all the lanyards are packed.

making sure the cell phones are charged and that we take the chargers with us.

I go on ebay and buy pins for my girls to trade. This year I went a little overboard! We make a countdown calendar with tear away pages that start at 100 days away. Each page was decorated by my girls with drawings and stickers of disney characters. The last page(we leave tomorrow) always has the castle with fireworks. The morning before we leave I make mickey mouse pancakes with donald duck orange juice!

Shiva:

<<preparing the belt pack to make sure that the AP's rain ponchos, Stitch nametage and my LP button are all there.>>

Okay, I've been debating the use of a fannypack/belt pack thing for years. I have found it to be a cliche of some kind and didn't want to look like an old middle-aged woman (okay, which I AM, but didn't want to just scream it out to the world). Could you take a moment to tell me how it works for you please? Thanks, because I'm really curious.

Also, you mentioned an LP button...are we allowed to make our own LP buttons or are they proprietary?

<<going through the trading pins that we may have purchased on the last or previous visits to see if I need to add to an existing lanyard or start a new one and then making sure all the lanyards are packed.>>

Severely debating this one, too. It just seems sooooo expensive. What's the cache of it? Is it meeting the people you trade with? Is it oohing and ahhing over them at home? Please tell me the appeal of it. I would really like to get some for DH and DD's, but....I guess I want to know "why". :)

Thanks for taking the time to share. xoxo

In November, DH and I took turns wearing a hideous forest green backpack...we probably looked pretty aged-challenged that way as well...or stupid. Or both.

Yeah, like ssturgeo pleads: Help!
