| rockcow1 Thu 5/15/2008 12:06p | We just take a regular backpack that is very light weight. Because we are a family of five, "backie"(it's name- I know very original) always rides the rides with my DH. It has gone on every vacation with us. It now even gets it's own pictures. Our favorite picture is "backie" is in the O of the CALIFORNIA outside DCA. Pathetic!? |

How old are the kids? Do you have pictures of backie with DH?
At least email me the picture. :) |

>>Okay, I've been debating the use of a fannypack/belt pack thing for years...Could you take a moment to tell me how it works for you please?<<
I hate the word fannypack, don't know why and refer to mine as a beltpack. It's a small Disney 50th beltpack that really comes in handy. It's just big enough to keep our AP's, some candy, my cell phone, cheap 2 for a buck ponchos, a spare battery for my camera and a couple of other things. I've had mine for a couple of years now and don't see how I ever got by without it before that time.
Tinkeroon also carries a very lightweight Tinkerbell backpack that she just loves and she is always getting compliments on. I don't feel like either "labels" us. I'll e-mail you a pic of it if you would like STiL. Just let me know.
>>Severely debating this one, too. It just seems sooooo expensive. What's the cache of it? Is it meeting the people you trade with? Is it oohing and ahhing over them at home? Please tell me the appeal of it. I would really like to get some for DH and DD's, but....I guess I want to know "why". :) <<
I really wish I knew! We just like ours and although we're not opposed to trading, as a rule we don't. Many of us like seeing the different pins and lanyards that others have. I don't know about "oohing and ahhing" it's just a fun thing. Some of mine are very special to me as they were gifts from friends and CM's. I try not to think about how much I've spent on them. We also try to buy a few each visit to give to our close friends back home. There's a young lady in our local Bank of America that we tend to spoil and the smile on her face when we bring her a new trading pin is worth far more to us than the few dollars it costs.
LP button, yes it's from LP. You can usually get one at the Big Meet in July or if you happen to be really nice to DlandDug, if you see him in the park.
have to get back to (shudder) ...work. ; ( |

| ssturgeo Thu 5/15/2008 1:02p | Shiva...I like the term "belt pack"...maybe that will make me feel better about using one!! Mine too is small, but seems so necessary...never have been fond of back packs...but keep looking for a really small one, that does not cost an arm and a leg!!

| SoThisIsLove Thu 5/15/2008 1:11p | Beltpack. That works for me. :)
So....does it get in the way or your belly? Or the rides? Or tables at restaurants?
And yeah, please email me Tinkeroon's backpack picture if you would. And your beltpack, too, if you have a pic handy.

| rockcow1 Thu 5/15/2008 1:16p | Thanks STiL ! Unfortunately I hadn't joined the ranks of digital camera users when that picture was taken, so that picture was "old school" processed at walmart. I do have one of my girls(14 and 12),hubby and backie on the monorail at out halloween visit. I also have a 17 year old son. He did not go on trip because of a AP European History test.
<<it's just a fun thing>> Agree Shiva. My daughters cannot bear to part with any they have traded or bought. So that's why I started buying on ebay to get ready for trips. I get pins inexpensively and they don't really care about them. Then trading is just a bonus thing to do at the park. It was good for my 12 year old to come out of her shyness. All the cm's are so nice to trade with she didn't have to be afraid.
The other thing we do to get ready for trips is listen to our CD of music from the parks.

I get pins inexpensively and they don't really care about them because they have no sentimental attachment to them. Then trading is just a bonus thing to do at the park.
