As Beyonce says, kids, to the left, to the left... :)

We should take a poll. Left tunnel or right...although I recall we may have done this already in the past year or two....

But, DH says to the right...so I guess we're a blended family.

BoyStory, don't expect me to correct your spelling. This Shiva is the god of typoes and mis-spellings and I can never spell that one right anyway...but watch out for sdlovesmickey, I'm not sure if she grades on a curve. ; )

Now you have me curious, we must not live too far apart, the Buttonwillow rest area is exactly 200 miles from my front door and it usually takes us about 3 ˝ hours to get there (tradition-we stop for breakfast at the Denny's near HWY 5 and 198 or we would get there in less than 3).

Right or Left?? At least there's no wrong way.

Shiva,
I just checked, Buttonwillow is 217 miles from us here in Livermore. I live in the same neighborhood/area as Gottaluvdavillians (our kids went to a couple of the same schools together:)

Yeah, I'm hardest on myself about spelling and proper grammar. the new "preview" feature is nice, but I wish LP had a spell-check and edit button:).

I think it would be interesting to simultaneously run a poll on which tunnel you exit; lt or rt. For us it's typically the rt (facing while exiting), but on our last day it's almost always the left b/c the Lincoln (and subsequently the 50th) show has been our farewell to Disneyland.

yep, you're close! I live in Manteca, so we're about ˝ hour away from you. I keep hinting to villains that we need to do a lunch or dinner sometime.

Don't worry too much about the spelling and grammer, we're all friends here. It's nice if we get it right but I know I never will. I'm not holding my breathe for that elusive edit button but if you use Mozilla Firefox as your browser, it comes with a really good nice spell check. It still doesn't help me too much. You have to spell it fairly close for it to help.

I have always entered from the right...it flashes me back to when I was a child and holding my granparents hands while walking in so many times. It is such a wonderful memeory. I am really looking forward to creating those types of memories with my DD when I take her at the end of August for her bday ( and hopefully many times past that!).

I am prepping up for that trip by buying the little things like t-shirts on sale at the outlets and such for her to wear. Since I have invited my Sister and her DD to join us, I am planning on fun things for all involved. (and many thanks to all here, so many terrific ideas have coem from them!!)

I am looking forward to buying my DD her first pair of ears ~~sigh~~ Then she can have a pair to wear like mommy. I was thinking maybe a classic black pair, but must admit the choose your own ears that will be available sound kinda fun.

Shiva....I live for spell check. Sometimes my fingers run away with themselves and type what ever key they wish...lol. That would be a nice feature here..but part of the charm is the origianl posts...just as the fingers intended...~~grin~~

I am an uber planner so I start gathering our Disney shirts, Disney coffee cups for the hotel room, print out DLR park schedules etc. about 3 weeks in advance. It's like a mission. Our "kids" think we should have a permanantly packed suitcase but what would be the fun in that?

One thing I do that cracks my DH up is: several years ago I bought a "We're Going to Disneyland" magnetic bumper sticker. I kept it with my Disney stuff and would take it on each vacation but I'd place it inside the car because I always thought someone would swipe it. Now we go often enough that I don't even take it out of the car, it just sits in the door pocket :) As soon as we hit the road it comes out. Once I forgot about it until we hit Commerce and I about freaked out :)

We always used to stop at the Buttonwillow Starbucks too :) Last couple of times we have mixed it up by stopping at the Starbucks at the Patterson Exit or Santa Nella. It actually was weird buzzing by Buttonwillow :)

Now I've had some time to read most of the posts. I'm reminded of when I used to pack for 4 kids. The handheld games, snacks, "prizes" for every hour that they didn't whine or fight :) etc. I loved it and became known as the "everything but the kitchen sink" mom.

Now when our adult kids join us, they just know I'll happen to have whatever they might need. Throw your back out? Yes mom has heat patches, advil and a massage ball. Blisters? Blister bandages, cotton wraps, etc. Heat rash? Bring it on. Scissors, stapler, wine bottle opener? Too easy. Sometimes I think they invent needs to test me :)

amazedncal2....me too!! On my Granddaughers 16th birthday trip in March, she made fun of some of the stuff I packed...told her I had an extra memory card too...she said "Who packs and extra memory card for a week"...guess whose camera needed one!! Then one day, batteries, then one day tweezers, then one day scissors...she finally admitted I was a smart packer!! :>)
