41	The Goddess Mara Fri 5/30/2008 6:57p	That's why the numbers seem to be so completely off. Empirical evidence is plainly that DisneySea has far fewer people in it at almost all times than Tokyo Disneyland, so how can attendance numbers be so close? Makes no sense.
42	Spirit of 74 Fri 5/30/2008 11:01p	Numbers aside, since we all know they lie (especially when execs want them to appear a certain way), I don't see why anyone would expect TDS to even approach TDL in terms of crowds or popularity. That's simply not how the Disney theme park/resort model is seen by the masses. Someone earlier pointed out DCA. But let's go to O-Town ... where Disney is most successful with multiple gates. EPCOT can certainly stand on its own. Yet it will never be as popular as the stale, neglected and poorly maintained MK because for most people 'Disney World' is the MK. Just like DLR is DL. And TDR is TDL. The other gates no matter how enjoyable (and I enjoy them all from my favorites EPCOT and DAK to yes, even DCA and DSP) are after-thoughts. Extras might be a better term. It's the MK concept that brings people to a resort. Forget that DAK is many times the quality park of the MK ... it'll never approach it in popularity or attendance (even with the funny numbers game played by Inoverherheadmeg and her 'leadership' team)!
43	X-san Sat 5/31/2008 6:18a	One has to wonder how different that might have been if they had, from the very first day of Epcot, made the pricing structure a little different. Even if it was five bucks more for the Magic Kingdom. Of course, since they pretty much broke the mold when they made Epcot, I don't think that would've been particularly fair...BUT, if the parks with the castles had been more expensive from the get-go, as a matter of course, I wonder if that would've evened things out. Got people interested in checking out the new stuff if only to save a few bucks, and all that. Guess we'll never know.
