| X-san Tue 5/13/2008 5:30a | Does anyone else find it a tad bizarre that LP is linking to articles by a former poster who has been banned from the conversations?
Don't get me wrong, I think it's *cool* they are linking to his stuff, I think it's good stuff. But it just seems kind of bizarre to me.
I mean, if someone came on here and commented about what Jonvn wrote, he couldn't even reply!
(please understand that I'm not trying to get LP to stop the links, I like them...just pointing out, I guess, just how weird the internet really is) |

| dshyates Tue 5/13/2008 8:50a | I belive Disney will really have a problem when people like me stop coming here to complain about the current offerings. Or to rave. Between seeing the offerings at DCA, followed up by a stale and and lackluster WDW Ex. And then getting scolded at for caring. Combined with all the other exciting things going on in themed entertainment. Well, you do the math. I don't care what WDI "issues" are. They seem to be in a complete tailspin at WDW as to where to go next. From what I've heard the DNK concept went over like a lead baloon with the survey groups. And it appears the WWoHP may have caused a stop everything lets build a knee jerk reaction@DAK plan. "Dust off those "Beastly Kingdom" blueprints. Kill the dragon coaster and put characters in everything. And when I say everything I mean everything. I want tri-circle Mickeys in the tiles above the urinals. I want hidden Mickeys in the hidden Mickeys. Now go build something." |

| dshyates Tue 5/13/2008 9:02a | By the way Kevin Yee posted a very positive piece on TSMM@DHS today over on Miceage. And every single review I have read from people who have actuall ridden the attraction say its good. So it may be in their best interest to back off on telling us were bad fans whose opinions don't matter while still coveting our money. |

| skinnerbox Tue 5/13/2008 9:18a | Hill's Imagineer deserves negative criticism for much of his work until now. I doubt he deserves any for Midway Mania. Hill needs hits to sell ads and creating controversy is how he gets them.
Disney does not care what the fans think as long as the fans keep opening their wallets. Once that stops then they will pay attention. Otherwise it remains business as usual. |

Yes.
He was banned? I didn't know that. |

| Doobie Tue 5/13/2008 9:57a | jonvn and I have know each other a long time. There's no reason we wouldn't link to him. His not posting here is a completely separate issue that was talked about as much as I could a couple of months ago in a long thread in Community. If you need any info beyond that, you'll have to ask him.

| Kar2oonMan Tue 5/13/2008 10:04a | Jonvn's comments are dead-on right in this piece. I actually think the format of a column, allowing him to flesh out his thoughts, works better for him than posting on discussion boards. He is very good at analyzing the issues and addressing them in a logical way.
I appreciate the links to his site, Doobie. |

| danyoung Tue 5/13/2008 10:35a | Just like when jonvn was here, I agree with some of his thoughts and strongly disagree with others. I do think the fan community can go somewhat over the top with their vitriol. But then again I didn't like the new security fence in Epcot was pretty intrusive to the look and feel of the entryway. And the ending of SSE, while kinda fun, really seemed out of place, more like something that would go into a kiosk than take up a third of a major AA ride.
But bottom line - I'd much rather casually read jon's writings in the current forum than constantly argue in a never ending circle of nastiness here on LP. |

| RoadTrip Tue 5/13/2008 10:43a | I agreed pretty much will all of jonvn's comments. Even if you disagree with his reviews of specific items, I think the overall point remains... that by complaining about almost everything Disney does, the fan community is no longer being listed to.
If my wife just criticizes me occasionally I figure I should try to make the changes she wants. If she criticizes me constantly I just figure she's a b**ch and ignore her. Same thing.
