<<mawnck: I take the recent marked increase in public Imagineer whining as a good sign, at least for the future of that department. It shows that they're feeling the heat. I look forward to similar grouses coming out of Home Video. >>
The "whining" is not coming from the Imagineers struggling to maintain quality and integrity of the attractions coming out of WDI. It's the older regime's second rate "talent" that have been coming up with the recent weak concepts that find their efforts coming back to haunt them.

The "real" Quality Imagineers are actually complaining too. And, those that I have spoken to actually find comfort in the complaints from guests to major media, exposing the poor quality output they are forced to produce. They have been hoping for a positive change in attitude that will again put quality and integrity over cheap and quick.

Unfortunately, corporate pressure may curtail even the limited Imagineer public expressions of dissatisfaction we have been exposed to.

"That said, Disney management since the mid-late 90s has had a very negative opinion of its customers in general."

In general? That seems like a stretch.

In any case, your time line coincides with the growth of Disney's online, and often very vocal, fan community. So, it wouldn't surprise me if management's attitude towards some of its customers changed over that period. No, it probably isn't PC, but at times I can understand their frustration because it does seem that the most vocal people online are the ones who complain the loudest.

>>Having someone who doesn't even enjoy the parks running them is the ultimate in idiocy.<<

Right, Spirit. Did any of these guys ever care enough about Disneyland to visit on their own time and dime before being hired on at the company?
