The good news is that this will make it much easier for restaurants to enforce their "no substitutions" policy.

I'm sure this will help. Do you know the discrimination that gun totters have been suffering through for years. Being barred from restaurants, city busses, and the parks. I will feel much better knowing everyone is packin' heat.

I'd feel better knowing that law-abiding citizens are packing heat, and not just the criminals.

Anyone remember years ago when Archie Bunker on All in the Family did a TV editorial on gun control? His solution to airplane highjacking: ARM THE PASSENGERS!

Maybe the Honorable Mr. Perdue is simply taking a page from the collected works of Norman Lear...

(Here come's the buzzkill guy ...)

This isn't funny. Does anyone honestly believe that the public's best interests are served by people carrying loaded weapons in bars, nightclubs, restaurants, city buses, and public parks? Seemingly at will? I'm sure even governor purdue doesn't really that that.

But actually, somebody else does. At the linked page above is a 'comments' link, and one (and only one) has been posted. To wit ..

>> I feel like I have regained some of my Freedom. The anti-gunners think a back ground check is not enough to prove you can carry. They think we need training on how the shoot a firearm.Sorry ,I got MY training when I was 9 years old.

Edward <<

Well I'M an anti-gunner, edward, and I think you need training on more than just 'how to shoot a firearm'.

What's really going on here is republican pandering to the gun-nuts. Even though the legislation flies in the face of horse sense, and even though ...

>> A number of groups had urged Perdue to veto the measure saying it could lead to increased violence. Among them were the Georgia Restaurant Association, MARTA and the Southern Christian Leadership Conference. Atlanta Mayor Shirley Franklin also opposes the bill. <<

On the other hand, we have ...

>> It was backed by the National Rifle Association. <<

Need we say more? I'm sure that governor purdue has a nice fat check coming to him.

And to the people out there who continue to support republican politicians, even though you know they don't reflect your values at all.

The City of Kennesaw north of Atlanta actually ~requires~ citizens to own firearms and to be trained in using them. The city has one of the lowest crime rates in the nation.

Ugh, how would I get a gun in a tiny purse? Did I read that right? You *have* to have a gun?
