| davewasbaloo Sat 5/17/2008 4:41a | bobbeelee - it is mainly because:
a) it is like where we live (actually some really good similarity to tourist favs).
b) I don't like British Food much or british design crafts.
I live in the Uk because I came here as a child, married a brit, and in terms of the people and lifestyle it is great. But I do not like British culture in the main. |

| X-san Sat 5/17/2008 5:07a | I just realized that in considering my favs for Epcot all of them don't exist anymore. :(
*sigh*
Oh well. Considering only what is still in existence...

| bobbelee9 Sat 5/17/2008 6:03a | Thanks Dave. My English roots came to the US in 1760, so I only have books & movies to judge the UK by, and I just kinda get really soft when I see the Tea Caddy. I wanted to believe that Disney got it right. |

| davewasbaloo Sat 5/17/2008 10:28a | Indeed they have. I have been to every country represented in World Showcase except Japan, and they have got it right in terms of feeling and tone. A bit storybook and romantacised. I would rather be in WS France than Paris, because of it.
The UK Pavillion mixes country, london, stratford, Hampton Court and many other styles.
It does feel a little like plopping the Statue of Liberty next to the Golden Gate bridge in some ways though. |

| X-san Sat 5/17/2008 4:21p | Are we ever going to hear what officially happened on this "running through the airport" day? |

| davewasbaloo Sun 5/18/2008 3:56a | Cheers Spirit.
X - suffice it to say, we cut it a little fine to get Spirit on his plane, but we still had an hour to spare before checkout closure. Due to admin errors multifold, we ended up litterly running (not a pretty site in my case) between terminals including trying to catch a train between terminals.
Well with the use of the phone and lot's of charming stewardesses, we got a fix, but it meant spirit was on a later flight. The great news was we did get a longer visit. Still the Heathrow Terminal 3 bar is no replacement for the Rose and Crown however.
And Bobbelee, don't worry, if you ever wanted a UK Pavillion type experience, I would be happy to obliged (except I never been to a pub with a piano player or magician). |

Lucky he got his flight. Hanging at an airport bar can be fun (I agree, I'd rather hang at DisneyWorld though lol).
So Spirit isn't some crazy psychopath?
Just checking. :p You guys are the first I've heard about actually meeting the guy! |
