<<Better than Disney Hollywood Studios? Surely you jest.>>

Absolutely. And please don't call me Shirley.

<<DHS TOT rips DCA TOT.>>

'Rips?!' Again you got the hyperbole meter amped up.

ToT is superior in Florida, but that just means if it is a '9' there that the DCA version is a 7 or 8. Still a great attraction.

<<Little Mermaid live show RIPS Alladin.>>

Please. Maybe if you're a 5-year-old girl. Otherwise I just look at one as a puppet show that is showing its age (and has been cut from its original length) and the other is a show that has Broadway-type aspirations and is better than any theme park show I have ever seen anywhere.

<<Lets set, DHS has full blow Fantasmic.>>

It has an inferior version to what I can get at DL and requires a long trek to a Sea World like theater. It is largely a commercial for Disney animation in the mid-late 90s and lacks the cohesion found in the DL original. I enjoyed the film Pocahontas, but someone really needs to 'splain how that production number ever found its way in (likely Eisner said put it there). And that puny little boat at the end?

<<Rockin Roller Coast rips Screamin.>>

Again. Just your opinion. You can feel that way. I disagree. RnRC is a short, rough ride through painted plywood flats. I believe its length is less than half of Screamin, which doesn't slam your head around like a pinball.

<<Star Tours/Soarin a wash. Great Movie Ride RIPS Soarin.>>

Star Tours is very, very stale. It isn't nearly as popular as Soarin on either coast. This is a fact. Not a fanboy opinion. And while I enjoy GMR, it is showing its age ... badly ... and again, it isn't half as popular in Florida as Soarin is.

<<Oh, I can go on.>>

Oh, I bet you can. But please don't.

<<How can you possibly say DCA beats DHS? >>

Because that is my opinion. Because I have been a regular visitor to both parks since their respective opening days. Because I have watched the Studios get watered down into a mess with a giant hat/pinshack while DCA has gotten stronger. Because there exists a vision for DCA and none for DHS.

<<GRR, even the Sun Wheel for its spectacular views, >>

<<Spectacular views? Of Harbor Ave? Of Electrical cables? Yes indeed! " Spectacular!">>

Yes. The views of DCA, DL, DD and even the mountains and stadium off in the distance are spectacular to me. I'm sorry that your field of vision is limited to Harbor Blvd.

<<Sure, DCA was very flawed>> <<Hey! We agree! Can you however make up your mind? You like DCA but its very flawed? Amazing!>>

My mind is made up.

DCA was built using a very flawed model. That it is as terrific as it is is a credit to many of the talented people who worked on it.

That doesn't mean it's what it should have been.

But I see things with some perspective. I tend to believe you see everything as black and white.

Tell me, do you feel better about yourself and the world by hating a theme park?

<<I've never been to any LegoLand, although I know they are known for their quality.>>

<<Speak of BIAS! This person NEVER has been to Legoland yet gives it a backhhand! What FACTS can you state that shows, and I quote, " I know they are known for their quality.">>

Bias? I have enough friends who have visited, enough people I know in the industry and have seen enough pics and video to say that Lego has quality parks.

Do you even have a point here?

<<Oh and one comment on Fastpass ... and I swore long ago to not get into debates about it ... but while I use it (where/when available) and find it can be useful, overall I feel it's just added to the stress of a park visit and not taking it away.>>

<<Lets see. On one hand, she uses it. On the other hand, it's stressful. Is it possible for you to make up your mind please?>>

First of all it's HE not she. When in doubt you shouldn't assume. It's a good life lesson for you.

I have made up my mind. I don't like what FP has done to the park-going experience, but since it is there I use it when I can.

Is that simple enough for you to understand or do I need to speak slower?

<<FP is a wonderful addition to the parks, which is why it's extremely popular and which is why it continues to be added to new Disney rides internationally. If it stresses you, do not use it! Thats one more extra available FP for me!>>

It is YOUR OPINION that it is a wonderful addition. No more, no less. The fact it is so 'popular' can be attributed to the power of Disney marketing and the fact people don't want to wait for anything these days. That's why you hear about 'commando' style touring. There's no stopping to take in the place, not when one can ride Space Mountain nine times in a day!

Also FP doesn't stress me out. But I believe it adds stress to guests because it forces them to do more planning (like booking lunch reservations six months in advance) than ever. It means rushing to get FP's, perhaps taking a standby ride, and forces you to be in the park at a certain place and time ... it takes spontaneity out of the equation. Every second of every visit must be planned.

That sure doesn't sound like fun to me.

<<It's becoming more and more likely that backpaintsm is either Darkbeer or a troll... I am guessing troll ;o)>>

I tend to draw them out.

They'll get into an argument, run and cry to the mods that they're being abused somehow and then disappear soon after.

It gets old.

And Darkbeer at least is an intelligent, articulate poster ... even if he can't stand to admit that the heroin monkey saved Disneyland! :-)

<<DCA's TOT is not "world class" in my opinion. Maybe if the original WDW version never existed and this DCA style was the first and only type to compare itself to. But one can not evaluate the overall experience of the DCA TOT without having the original experience of the WDW original firmly planted in the back of one's mind. The relatively minor plusses that came with the DCA version are way overpowered by the loss of certain major aspects that were omitted. And the overall placement and art direction of the DCA version is just way poor compared to the incredible job they did at WDW. For me, the DCA TOT is more of a huge disappointment than a huge plus. And unfortunately, some of the things that are disappointing about it can not ever be fixed. So we will always have the lesser version here. And that is sad.>>

But many people have never been on Florida's version. For those folks, the vast majority who likely ride DCA's, Tower needs to be judged on its own merits.

For me, I grew up with PoC being one of my favorite WDW attractions. Then I grew up and went to DL at 22 and from then on, I never looked at the MK version the same way. But had I never ventured to DL (and late DLP) -- and become an APer at those resorts as well -- I likely would still consider PoC one of Florida's best attractions ... I don't anymore.

Then there are folks who will criticize DCA's version, but drool over TDS's Tower, which is essentially the exact same ride with a different backstory and theming. While to some fanboys backstory and queue are overriding factors, I take the whole package ... and that's why I'm reasonably sure I'll get excited at 'the look' of TDS's Tower, but still realize Florida's total package is superior.

<<That's why it is so important that anything new at DCA, like TSMM, be unique and exemplary, and if there has to be a clone or similar experience at any of the other Disney parks worldwide, then our versions here in Anaheim absolutely have to be equivalent or better. They failed us with TOT. But they did us proud with our Nemo submarine ride when compared to the lesser experience Sea Cabs at Epcot. That same expectation of nothing short of excellence NEEDS to be a hallmark of everything added to DCA. And DCA's TOT is very short of excellent. It's just fairly good. And that's not sufficient.>>

The Nemo subs are enjoyable. But they aren't a huge wow in my book.

And while I understand your parochial view of Anaheim, I have a broader view.

I want to see Disney do the best it can in each and every park and resort it builds. I don't feel that Anaheim has to have anything better. I want the best for everyone.

And, FWIW, as a Floridian I firmly believe that on 9 attractions out of 10 that are in both US resorts, DL's versions are usually equal or superior. So put the inferiority complex away.

DCA's Midway Mania has been operating for three days now, 8 hours per day, with unlimited Cast Member sneak peeks on a ride that is not completely finished yet.

Wanna know the buzz on Midway Mania amongst the DLR Cast Members?..... Disneylanders are loving it! Everyone I've talked with has really liked the ride; everyone raves about it, and everyone is very surprised at how much fun it is. People are going again and again, CM's are begging their Leads to get an ER so they can make it over to ride, and this evening lots of people are coming in from their day off (like myself) to ride again with friends when it opens at 4:00pm.

This one is a hit folks. A definite, full blown hit.

It's not the next Pirates of the Caribbean or Indiana Jones Adventure, don't misunderstand me. Midway Mania is just not on the scale and scope of those major E Ticket rides, just as Alice In Wonderland is not supposed to be as big of a deal as It's A Small World. But for a D Ticket second stringer, Midway Mania is clearly one of the best rides Disney has done in years. The entertainment value of the ride is just huge, and especially for a weaker park like DCA the benefit of this ride is going to be massive. People will love it!

And people (Read: CM's) who have actually ridden the ride instead of just watching YouTube or peering through cracks in the construction wall are really impressed with it. The breakroom buzz and positive word of mouth amongst the Cast Members in Anaheim is spreading like wildfire this weekend.

When it finally opens for Guests, RUN don't walk to Midway Mania at DCA! You won't regret it.
