In fact, one can do a Wikipedia search, and find lots and lots of songs about 'California.'

It takes more time, money, thought and planning to commission 'The California Suite' -- and orchestral sequence of music representing The Golden State, that would be written by one of today's finest composers.
John Williams anyone? |

And it would be cool to hear "Hotel California" being played near TOT. Or the theme to "Psycho". Hey, just the shower "music" would work. :) |

Please? Who's with me?<<<
I'm with you, solid. The music makes my skin crawl, not because I hate the songs themselves, but because it's so contemporary and so evocative of what Barry Braverman intended DCA to be.
>>>I enjoy the music, but I wish it were on a longer loop.<<<
There's always a fan for everything. But really, if they are going to create a period themed area, they need to toss out all the schlocky contemporary music and authenticate the atmosphere with music appropriate to the period.
Oh and, at the same time... scrub the silly contemporary movie themes in the Hollywood area, some of which aren't even from Disney movies, such as the theme to "Superman". |

Al Jolson? The Four Preps? I haven't heard them on KISS-FM recently.
How about the same songs, only we have the CHARACTERS sing them? Just imagine Donald crooning "I Love LA". Pure gold. |

| gadzuux Mon 5/26/2008 9:37p | True confessions - I enjoy much of the music in the plaza. But I'll add that I only get to the parks once or twice a year, so I don't have the repeated exposure that some APs get. I also don't spend a great deal of time in the entrance plaza, so it doesn't have much of a chance to get repetitive.
"Twenty Six Miles Out In The Sea ..." - that'll get me tapping my toes every time. |

I'm talking more about "I love LA", and "California Dreamin'" And "California Girls", for that matter. Not contemporary in the sense that they're being played on KISS FM, but contemporary in terms of having come from recent times. I'm sorry, but I don't want to hear anything by the Mamas and the Papas blasting out as area music over loudspeakers in a Disney theme park.

Nobody does. It's not a very interesting or inviting or even comfortable feeling place. And the music drives the people away like ultrasonic noise drives away vermin. |

| Passhole Tue 5/27/2008 8:22a | Hey ArchtMig -- When was the last time you were in DCA? The Hollywood BGM (background music) was changed years ago and now features all Disney music as well as Daisy Duck's pages. |
