^WOW, attendance...

BFD!!!

Most folks enter DCA from AP's, which come with DCA at NO additional charge if you buy a Disneyland AP, the "Pay for Disneyland, get DCA for FREE!" 2fer offer, and the Multi-Day ParkHoppers.

Basically every other major park in Southern California, such as Universal Studios Hollywood, Knott's Berry Farm, Six Flags Magic Mountain, SeaWorld San Diego, and LEGOLAND sell more SINGLE day one-park tickets to its own park than DCA does...

Heck, the Adventuredome at the Circus Circus Casino in Las Vegas is very close to the attendance at DCA (no longer part of the TEA/ERA numbers because the admission is free).

It is like claiming I sold 5,000,000 million Hot Dogs at 25 cents each, while the other folks sold 3,000,000 Hot Dogs at $1 each... Who did better?!?!

It's a trick question. It depends entirely on the wholesale value of the ingredients of your hot dogs.

If you spent 99 ¢ on ingredients and sold 3 million hot dogs at $1 each, well, you didn't do too well. They might be quite tasty, but you're only breaking even.

If you spent 5 ¢ on ingredients and sold 5 million hot dogs for 25 ¢ each, that's a tidy profit. Hopefully you use the profits to add some beef to the hot dogs, then you wouldn't have to discount the dogs so much.

And some of those single day passes are also GET A YEAR FREE passes, too. But keep in mind that no matter what type of ticket is used to get into DCA, it's keeping a guest on Disney property, where they are likely spending money on food and souvenirs, lodging, etc.

Love it or hate it, DCA and DtD altered the way people vacation at DLR, and overall that has been a huge plus for Disney. They took a one or two day experience and made it into a 3 or 4 day experience. As they continue to beef up the hot do-- er, park, they'll continue to chip away at Universal, Knott's, Sea World at some level.

People are crazy - DCA is a great park getting better all the time. If I said it once I'll say it again people wouldn't gripe so much if it wasn't for the fact the greatest park in the world is next door. It's not Disneyland but it's a great #2. LIGHTEN UP PEOPLE AND ENJOY DCA!

DCA and DTD altered the way SOME people vacation at DL(R). Of course, just the fact that everyone has to park in the Disney and Friends parking structure alters the way people experience Disneyland.

There are MANY who feel having to go through all the hassle of the parking situation just to visit their favorite park - Disneyland - has been a negative.

So, the best that can be claimed is that DTD and DCA have provided mixed results. They probably could have come close to the same results with DTD alone.

I can go with the DL #1 arguement, but DCA is like #10 on my list.

>>Hard Rock Park ... Here is a detailed overview.<<

Still seems kind of skimpy on non-county-fair attractions, but it certainly LOOKS a lot better than I was led to believe.

It was my understanding that the restaurant chain just licensed the name, and is not actually running the joint. But it appears that my understanding isn't entirely accurate, so I'll leave it at that. ($10 for parking, eh?)

I'm still deciding whether to check it out in person next time I'm down that way. Do you know if they're planning to run it year-round, or just during the tourist season?

They, as of now, are planning on seasonal. Closing after Halloween. Thier Halloween event sounds promising. They are supposed to have different haunts designed by rock stars like Alice Cooper, Rob Zombie and Marilyn Manson.

Oh, and as far as the license for the restaurant. Yes that is correct. But that is these people. They are the restaurant/hotel/casino and now theme park people. They license the name from the people who started the original in London.

The attendance numbers speak to the park's popularity, not its profitability. I've been to DLR with several friends that preferred DCA over DL, citing newer attractions like SOC and TOT. Besides, Disney has other means of generating revenue (hats, hot dogs, etc.) And given that I just paid $80 for a Photopass CD with 30 pictures on it, I'd say they're good at it.
