| MinnieSummer Thu 6/5/2008 2:33p | I'll be spending a week alone at WDW in two weeks and I can't wait. I have been looking forward to this for over three months. I'v done it before and absolutely lve the freedom. I don't have o worry about doing what anyone else wants, I can sleep in, stay up late, or get up early and hit the parks at rope drop. I can actually spend n entire day at the resort where the only decision I have to make is quiet pool or main pool. I have never had a problem eating alone, actualy enjoy it, and I've found that CM's come up and talk to you a little more when you are eating alone. I've got some great info by eating at table service restaurants alone. |

I seem to find more treasures when I'm alone. Yes believe it or not WDW still has those hidden treasures. Shopping, hidden Mickey's, those fun little architectural details.
What's that old saying "stopping to smell the roses", well you can do that literally. When EPCOT has their mini concerts (F&W,etc) is one of my fave times to go alone. I like sitting under the trees and listening to a one of my teen idols or a tribute band of groups past/present.
It's always my chance to catch the films I enjoy as well as the rides that are MY personal faves.
But I have to say that my absolute fave thing to do on solo days/trips is to take a tour. You're almost certainly with folks that have the same interests(except maybe the poor spouses forced to go along). There is always someone to talk to as there are many singles on tours. That's code for those of us that can't get anyone to go or in I believe most of our cases don't want anyone to go with us.
I love to people watch and there is certainly no shortage of people @ WDW in every possible size, shape, color, attire, ethnicity, age or origin.
I love to go to England, get fish&chips and sit @ the tables just outside the Pub. It never fails that someone from "across the pond" will ask to join me once all the tables are full. I have had some of the most delightful conversations.
I too enjoy having a meal alone and the CM do indeed check on & chat with me more. It was the same when the kids were small and I like them enjoy the attention.;)
Have a wonderful time. |

| Goofyernmost Sat 6/7/2008 8:46a | I've done solo trips every year since my divorce in 2001. This year I brought my whole immediate family along and we had a blast.
That said, I missed just going when I wanted, eating when I wanted, seeing what I wanted, chatting with whomever would listen, sitting in the shade, watching children interact with the characters and sometimes being the last one to follow the crowd out of the parks as they closed.
I am one that says, it is fun to go solo. There are times when you kind of miss not sharing the experience with someone you care about, but, and I hope I don't sound to antisocial here, I love my alone time.
It does seem easier to strike up a conversation with strangers when you are not occupied with someone else.
Moral of the story...it's great to go with someone, but, going solo definitely has some perks. |

| Disney Joy Sun 6/8/2008 8:27p | solo - staying at Pop Century because I will never be in the room.
Next year thinking about Port Orleans Riverside, French Quarter, or Caribbean Beach. In my 11 day trip I am taking one day to check out resorts.
I would love to stay at Animal Kingdom but for the money I would have to hang out at the resort and that's hard for me to do.
Not sure if it's worth it since I am always on the go. BUT no way would I stay off property.
:O))
Solo at Disneyland I stayed at Park Vue Inn with a jacuzzi suite. |

| Disney Joy Sun 6/8/2008 8:40p | The one thing I won't do on my solo trips is ride AUTOPIA or Indy Speedway (it's call at WDW)
On my 1st solo trip to DL I got on autopia and almost cried out of sadness. I was ok until I got on that car.
My grandson always drives when we go to Disneyland and it was the first solo trip and he wasn't there. After I got off I was ok. GEE !!
Never again unless he is driving. :o)) |

| NikkiLOVESMickey Tue 6/10/2008 7:29p | I've done WDW solo several times in the past and really enjoy it. You don't have to worry about pleasing anyone but yourself, which is the best part. I don't have quite as much fun as when I go with my family, because we're all Disney junkies and just have a blast in the parks together (I also feel guilty if I leave my mom at home!) but it's still fun. A bad day at Disney is still a pretty damn good day because you're at Disney!
On my last solo trip two years ago I dined at table service restaurants for the first time and I was a little nervous because I thought I'd stick out like a sore thumb. However, when I went to eat at Chefs de France and saw there were two other solo diners, the nervousness went away. Especially since I kept pointing and calling them freaks :-).
As for resorts, I've always stayed at a value resort because it's just me. All I need is a place to lay my head at the end of the day and its all good. |

| jkayjs Wed 6/11/2008 9:21p | Well this topic got me thinking and I just added a solo trip for next month. My Orlando daughter just moved into a new place so I'm going to stay with her and spend some time in the parks when she works.
If I find anything new and different to do I'll be sure to post.;) |
