5	fkurucz Sun 5/18/2008 8:12p	FWIW The Church of England is the Protestant that most resembles the Catholic Church. It is my understanding that "high church" Anglicans consider the CofE as the 3rd branch of the Catholic Church (Rome and Byzantium being the other two). Of course neither Rome nor Byzantium (Orthodoxy) grant that honorific to the CofE. The Roman Church has declared in the past that Anglican ordinations are "Utterly null and void". What makes this pronouncement interesting is that more than a few Anglican priests have gone to rogue Catholic bishops to be re-ordained (while remaining Anglican). Fact can be stranger than fiction. Also the RCC has a special provision for Anglican parishes that switch over whole sale to the RCC. The Anglican Vicars are re-ordained as Catholic priests (even if married) and the parish is allowed to use an Anglican style of worship.
