Took the river cruise from DTD to POR this evening and the tree houses were in the process of being torn down as the boat passed by them. They are being bull dozed one by one, in fact, i saw it happening right before my eyes. even snapped a pic of a pile of what used to be a tree house. The boat driver said the old ones are being torn down and being replaced on the same foot print with a three bedroom model to become DVC.

I think they had to tie them in with SS to get around the ADA requirements of being wheelchair assessable. I think there are only 60 units there, and I bet there will be a very high demand for them. Anyway, it gets rid of an eyesore. I wonder if they will build a boat dock there now, and make it part of the boat stops for DTD?

yes, there will be. There are currently two poles sticking out from the water where the dock will be.

Thanks for the info GalDisney. It only makes since to put one in there. I understand they were actually able to increase the footage of wetlands in the area, and that was the major issue in getting a permit to reconstruct the Villas there.

I took some photos a couple of days back (some of the treehouses are now rubble). I plan to take more photos tomorrow, and put them up.

I am very happy that new ones will be built.
