Am I the only one who thinks Kevin Yee is either a bit too paranoid for his own good, or exagerating things just a bit to get more readers?

It's on page 2 where he completely freaks out about a shark in the water and how the lifeguards can't be doing their job if they are on a tower and not in the water.

No, you're not.

I commented on Micechat.com that I felt Kevin's criticism was over the top.

It's weird, I think Kevin usually makes great points about the parks. And even when I disagree, he makes intelligent reasoned explanations for his points.

But put Kevin at sea and it's like sending Marilyn Manson to a church picnic!

LMAO, I am reading the comments at Micechat and they make mine seem extremely nice.

LOL!!! Sounds like this guy puts on floaties and a life jacket in his own bath tub.

Having just returned from the Caribbean where we made numerous dives, I can assure you that there is nothing to fear from nurse sharks, rays and barracudas. We were excited every time we got to see one.

That's pretty sad. Just think of all the other things that those nets would be keeping out that you would never see at Castaway Cay. How about sea turtles, groupers, beautiful large angel fish...

I guess Crush and Mr Ray are not welcome. ;)

Kevin Yee once declared that the Mickey & Friends parking structure was "sinking."

I think he needs to switch to decaf.

Hahahahhaha!

Is this guy a girl? Wait, that's insulting to girls.

;)

I only got to the first page, up to the nurse shark. But I was laughing at him too much to continue.

Are we sure this wasn't a sour attempt at tongue-in-cheek humor?

***I find myself wishing they would just build a jetty and completely enclose the snorkeling lagoon. Make it a giant outdoor saltwater aquarium, rather than connected to the real ocean. At least then it would be safe.***

Ever hear of drowning?

***I, for one, will not be snorkeling in the lagoon any time soon. Frankly, I don't feel safe for the first time, despite feeling completely so in the past.***

Oh, good lord. If you're afraid of the ocean, don't go in. It's pretty simple. No one generally HAS to get in the water! What the heck!?

***I mean, sure, they are theoretically vicious, but this is Disney property here. Surely nothing is going to get me here. That's what the Disney brand means, for crying out loud. Safe family fun.***

Last time I heard something like this it was from a group if idiot hotel patrons remarking how fun it was to "feed a friendly alligator" down by the Grand Floridian docks.

Brilliant.

Darwin's Law hard at work.

For the record, I am still cracking up over this.

The notion that he expects Disney to make the ocean into a theme park attraction is just absurd.

I think it's the fact that I just took a vacation and we went to WDW and then went to the Virgin Islands. I love WDW for the beauty of the fantasy, but I loved the Caribbean and diving and snorkeling in the ocean for the beauty of the reality. You have to appreciate both. I don't think I would expect less if I arrived in the Caribbean on a cruise ship, but I do know that I am different from many people. I go looking for the sharks. ;)

And for the record, I was able to identify a nurse shark from the shore, so I don't think that the lifeguards need to be in the water to identify nurse sharks. They are pretty easy to identify. Particularly since they swim on the bottom. They are also extremely shy. I have seen several but have not been able to get a single picture of one yet because as soon as you get close to one they take off.

Positive, over at another message board, he is defending himself adamantly over people who are slamming him for being so paranoid.
