I'm in San Carlos, but up on the hill so we can see the smoke cloud really clearly.

Now there's a fire just down the street from me. With these winds every spark is taking off.

3/2--many years ago I lived on a hill in Belmont. We would have been practically neighbors.

These huge fires always scare and sadden me--so much devastation.

As of this morning, the fire is 3,500 acres. 12 structures lost, including at least 2 houses. It's 20% contained right now.

The weather has totally changed today. Temps are in the 50's this morning, humidity is running above 80% due to fog. Winds have dropped to 5-15 mph.

Much better conditions today!

just picked up my nephew. He lives on the San Jose/Los Gatos border, the smoke is pretty thick. On my way there even by the airport you can not even see the Santa Cruz mountains thru the smoke. At my sisters you could finally see part of it, and she is only a couple of miles away.
