Wow.

Haven't seen the movie yet, [hopefully this afternoon] but if the soundtrack album is any indication, it's going to be a fun, exhilarating ride.

John Williams brings back some of his most popular 'Indiana Jones' themes, and then adds some great touches incorporating 'Indy's theme' into other orchestral bits too.

Some of the 'Chase' sequences are really fun.

Excellent.

Anyone else listened to the soundtrack? It's really terrific. Seems that John Williams had a great time returning to these musical themes.

I have the CD, but only have had a chance to listen to about 1/2 of it so far. I did see the film as well, so I've heard all the music that way.

The first thing that did surprise me is that Williams did use a bit more of the older themes than I had expected him to. With the previous two sequels, he made the interesting choice of not reusing any of the themes from the previous films other than the Raiders March. I wasn't too surprised that Marian's Theme was also revived for this one, but he also made use of the ark theme from Raiders and the father-son theme from Last Crusade in several places. The uses of the older themes were all appropriate, but still a tad surprising since this is a definite deviation from how he has previously approached the sequels in this series.

The new themes for this film (particularly the very playful one he wrote for Mutt) are a lot of fun. I look forward to giving the CD a closer listen and becoming more familiar with the new music.

I like the one track entitled 'The Journey to Akator' where it kicks into that South American dance music. Very cool.
