"I don't know anybody that didn't like Laugh-in. It was so totally irreverent and silly, that it made a great escape from the times. For a guy my age the times seemed a lot worse then they do now, but, I suspect it is all relative to your place in life. All the GI's have to watch now are reality shows and believe me they have enough reality. They need some escape. Laugh-In was that escape for us."

Very well put.

Everyone's already said it... "Laugh-In" was great. My family never missed an episode.

Rest easy, Dick... Thanks very much for all the grins and giggles.

Indeed, WonderingAlice...
Dick Martin was a gifted man; making us all appreciate the laughs he shared with us all.
Sad to see him go...the end of a legacy of laughter.

Best-named thread I have seen in a very long time; good job.

Laugh-In was a must in my home and for everyone I went to school with. I think you just had to be living through the times to "get it". It was random, even to us. And that was the beauty of it. :)

Dick Martin: How about coming up to my place?
Girl: Are you going to try anything fresh?
Dick Martin: Nope. Same old stuff.

It kind of went with the "Airplane" strategy, years before airplane. No joke was more than a few lines long, and they just kept coming and coming and coming. If you didn't like joke A, don't worry; joke B will be here before you know it.

How tragic that I'm ten days belated. But...

Happy Anniversary, Dick and Ricky Martin!
