| oc_dean Fri 6/6/2008 4:00p | Oh ... weren't we talking about Carsland? :*)
psst ... I hope they get rid of that lame name for a land!
They should call it Radiator Springs ... and call the "Test Track" ride something else.
that name is so generic .. sorry ... it's lame. |

| Hans Reinhardt Fri 6/6/2008 5:11p | Isn't Mary Poppins a bit of a stretch for a California seaside pier? Oh well, leave it to Disney to figure out a way to squeeze her into the theme somehow. She's already on Broadway, so full fledged Mary Poppins franchise can't be far off the horizon. |

As for more darkrides, you might just get your wish. There are plans for a few more. <<
Bean ... I sure do love your enthusiastic forecasting!!
by the way Bean ... I've been meaning to want to bring something up with you .. what with you being an insider of such.
I try to avoid "armchair imagineering" but I can't help to mention this one.
With Paradise Pier getting the Victorian era theming ... there's another "Disney" property that would fit the bill quite nicely. Actually .. it's Edwardian era (1910 to be exact .. but close enough ;)
You mentioned one attraction pad that will be available for the future - next to Little Mermaid.
I'm thinking of one major "Disney" property that will have it's 50th anniversary in 2014.
In the 70s ... (only in concept stage) - This attraction idea was imagined to be built next to 'it's a small world' .. but never saw the light of day.
I'm talking about a:
MARY POPPINS attraction :)
I'm picturing the Victorian/sh styling for a beautiful attraction facade reminiscent of the Jolly Holiday sequence.
With a Mary Poppins/Little Mermaid attraction section ... It would be the "Pirates/Haunted Mansion" section of DCA!
I feel in my heart ... that would put Paradise Pier .. and for that matter ... DCA over the top!
I would love to see the (never built) Mary Poppins attraction revisited for the improved Paradise Pier area in time for MARY POPPINS ANNIVERSARY!
Check your crystal ball. ;) "
I think you are right, it would be the perfect attraction for the pier |

I think it would be more of it fitting the theme of the land. Once an attraction is dissected due to any characters origin it gets much more complicating. Think of how the toys fit the midway environment and not so much of the overall california theme. |

| lesmisfan Sat 6/7/2008 11:28a | i always thought that when the retheming of the pier was done that mary poppins would be a great addition! although i was only thinking of redressing the carousel as a mary poppins carousel but a full pleged ride would be even better in my books! and to theme it to california wouldn't be to hard, all they have to say is that your visiting the movie set which was filmed in california anyway. I know, i know not such a great accuse but one none the less. |

| lesmisfan Sat 6/7/2008 11:30a | i would love it if they could find some way to were you are hopping through chalk paintings as you are going from scene to scene. dont know how this can be achieved, maybe if the vehicles were far away from each other they could do some sort of mist/projection like davey jones in pirates. |

Okay, the toys fit the midway environment... and the LM at least is a sea creature and her father already has a carousel... But Mary Poppins on a California pier?
I guess they could do it. But if they're going to do something elaborate, why not in the old FaL skyway area (show building backing into FrL if necessary)? |

| bean Sun 6/8/2008 8:40p | true, but what real overall theme did old seaside pier attractions have in common?
I think therecould be some interesting ideas to make some portions of Mary Poppins work in in a fair/carnival environment especially if you concentrate on some of the animated sequences of the movie.
Obviously is not happening. |
