How many books need to come out about this administration before they're not all just "opportunists?"

I saw Tucker Carlson (and we know what a flaming liberal he is) talking about how well McCellan knew the President, and therefore, you can't just dismiss everything he says. He also suggested that the real outrage on the part of the Bushies isn't what McClellan said, it's the disloyalty. The hallmark of this administration is loyalty, which is why so many incompetent people have been given high level positions. But McClellan has betrayed that loyalty, which you just don't do in the Bush administration.

The current press secretary Dana Perino(after further review, I think I would) stated that he was disgruntled. Which would be the response I would expect. But I have to ask, was McClellan gruntled while working for the White House?

Somehow this book doesn't surprise me. McClellan always looked uncomfortable when he was up there, forced to lie (or mislead) for the administration. Tony Snow was a great liar - he looked really comfortable (even smug) doing so. But McClellan always looked like his conscience was bothering him, even as he was doing it.

I think we'll see more and more of this, as people look to shake the slime of association with this administration off themselves. Heck, last night John McCain attended a fundraiser with President Bush and they allowed no press into the event -- McCain knows he doesn't need any more photos of him hugging President Bush, nor video of the president associating with him. He is an albatross except with the die-hard neocons.

I will say that such frank revelations are nice after the fact, but they would have been much more valuable while McClellan was still on the job. In other words, rather than following marching orders knowing things aren't right, it would be nice to see someone resign and publicly state why at the time.

Tony Snow was an excellent Minister of Propaganda.

I disliked Tony Snow's approach to the job of press secretary, disagreed with much of his politics. That said, I wouldn't ever take joy in his illness nor the impact of it on his family. No one deserves a horrible illness like cancer.

This book presents a quandry for the administration. They can't very well say that he's lying, because that would infer that he was also lying while serving as white house press secretary.

Their solution (so far) is to dance around the actual content of the book, and instead address the "sadness" they feel. Rove said that McClellan "sounds like a left wing blogger".

In short, they want to discredit the source without actually responding to what he wrote. Unfortunately this guy was the official bush administration mouthpiece for three years - how do you
call your own spokesman a liar?

If there's a silver lining to this, it may be that the whole 'plame-gate' issue will be revisited by the press. They really did "out" a CIA agent in political retribution, they really did lie about it to a federal prosecutor, and then pardoned libby when he was convicted of felonies.

These people are not only thoroughly corrupt, they're brazenly shameless about it. How anybody can support the GOP or identify themselves as a republican is beyond me.

Boy howdy.

>>Rove said that McClellan "sounds like a left wing blogger". <<

Did Rove make that comment on the "fair & balanced" channel?
