The movie opens tonight I have no interest. I never liked the show. It's supposed to be a big hit. I have to ask will any straight man be there for any other reason than:

1. It's their job(movie reviewer)
2. It's the wife/girlfriend's turn to pick the movie.
3. The really hacked off the wife/girlfriend and that's the punishment.
4. It's a first date and the guy is trying to score.

I think you summed it up DAR. I don't think any man is going to put this on their list of movies to go to.

You mean, no REAL MAN © is going to put this on his list of movies to go to.

That said...

My brother enjoyed the show. He and his wife are going. And no, he's not a closet case.

I'll probably wait for it to show up on TV. I enjoy the show, but not enough to pay money to watch it.

The Simpsons Movie made fun of that very concept right at the beginning of it.

^--Sadly, even self-mockery isn't original. One of the "Charlie's Angels" movies (I think it was the first, but I'm not sure) opened with joke about movies based on TV shows, as somebody was subjected to a "T. J. Hooker" movie on an airplane.

It always seemed to me that the show was pretty much for women. My wife's loved it for a while (got her the complete series on DVD for Mother's Day) and she'll be seeing the movie...with a friend. I have no interest.

I have watched episodes with her and they definitely aren't bad. I can see the interest and I have no desire to try and portray myself as some alpha-male tough guy who's too macho for it. I admire the acting, the production value, Chris Noth is awesome. But the stories just don't interest me or hold my attention; I struggle to relate.

Sex and the City came in at a surprise #1 this weekend beating out Indiana Jones. I saw it and really liked it. I would say however that if you weren't a fan of the series your opinion will probably be different.

I saw it tonight - didn't watch the series - but have seen a handful of episodes on regular TV - so I did miss a couple things - but all in all it was a good movie...

Was suprised with some of what I saw though - Had no idea there would be so much nudity -
