Except of course for the obscene profits funneled from the taxpayers to the defense contractors. And the meter's still running five years later. This is beyond just federal offenses - this is crime against humanity itself. Does that sound overwrought? I don't think so. Whatever the "reason" - money, power, vanity - we may never really know. I want obama to win in november. I want a solid two-thirds democratic majority in the house and senate. And I want thorough and exhaustive probes into the outgoing administration. Special prosecutors. Hearings. Indictments. We must demand accountability from our own government. In fact, we're the only ones who can.

"The panel put a new spin on old charges" Also note it says, "The Senate report, however, found that intelligence supported most of the administration's statements about Iraq before the war." And, "The committee's five other Republicans . . . accused Democrats of covering for their own members . . . who made similar statements about Iraq based on the same intelligence the Bush administration used." Here are some examples: "There is no doubt that ... Saddam Hussein has reinvigorated his weapons programs. Reports indicate that biological, chemical and nuclear programs continue apace and may be back to pre-Gulf War status. In addition, Saddam continues to redefine delivery systems and is doubtless using the cover of a licit missile program to develop longer-range missiles that will threaten the United States and our allies."
