I noticed in the Disneyland calendar that the Hyperion Theatre is scheduled for refurb beginning on September 2nd and continuing to the end of September and of course, October is not up yet.
Is something new coming?
Anyone know anything?

I will look into it, but it could be many reasons...

The show hasn't been recasted in a while, and Disney loves to do that. So it might just be an excuse to let the current cast go, and then make them reapply if they want to stay (and Disney can get rid of any CM they want to this way).

It could be a cost cutting issue, with Aladdin turning into a seasonal attraction, but that would be hard, since there would have to be training and rehearsals for weeks prior to the start of the season, which rules out bringing it back for the short Christmas Season.

The mechanical devices, such as the Flying Carpet need regular maintenance, so it might just be that, and some reapirs to the seats and a good deep cleaning of the carpets.

But, as an educated guess, a Re-casting, a way to save money, and then Aldddin can return for the Christmas season.

Thank you so much for your reply Darkbeer!
I was thinking that it might be for some of the reasons you said but I know a lot of people have been talking about wanting a new show so I just wondered.
My friend and I are going in September and we will really miss Aladdin!
I saw it in May and it was as spectacular as ever!
Oh well, you can't have everything!
