We have never been to the park on July 4th weekend and we are thinking of maybe going this year as the actual holiday falls on a Friday. What type of crowds can we expect? Would be better to go Saturday versus Friday or does it really make a difference? Also what is the difference between the regular fireworks show and the July 4th fireworks show?

Thanks!!!

Ok, I went last year on the 4th. But it was a Wednesday, so it wasn't crowded at all.

With the holiday being on a Friday, I can pretty much bet that it'll be crowded with looooong lines.

I wouldn't go this year, but any time it falls in the middle of the week, I'd be happy to go again. The temp last year wasn't too bad, either.

Here's my trip report from last 7/4:

We have never been there around this time as well, and we're planning on going July 2 - 4 (Wed - Fri). We realize its going to be crowded, so we're preparing ourselves accordingly.

We thought about avoiding DL on the 4th and spending the day at DCA... watching the DEP then watching the fireworks from the Esplanade. We have never done this, and realize that we wouldn't be able to see the low-lying effects around the castle - but would hopefully be able to view the bigger shells, and the 4th of July finale. Question for the experts - how are the fireworks viewed from the esplanade? Do they pipe in the music? Will it be packed there on the 4th? Thanks!

We went July 4th, 2005 and it was packed, probably one of the most crowded places I have ever been besides a mosh pit. If you have real small kids it can become extremely nerve-wracking and somewhat scary. DCA is a great place to cool off from the crowds, but they do not pipe in the music from the esplanade (at least they haven't in years past). The show itself is spectacular. I would actually suggest staying in Disneylan, but away from the main viewing area around town square and the castle and you should be able to see and hear a better show than from outside the park. Right after the show don't try to leave, in fact this is the best time to hit those rides you missed as most people (probably locals) head for the exits right after the fireworks. We are going the day after on July 5th and my experience is that the crowds are nowhere near the July 4th levels, this year may be different however, since this a July 4th weekend not a mid-week. Get to the park as early as possible, eat a big meal, and learn the art of patience, courtesy, and forgiveness and you will have a great time.

for thesis 4th of July it probably won't be crowded at all. with gas prices so high it will be quiet. there were only 42k today and yesterday only had 21k/ count on an empty park

42k seems pretty high for a Thursday. Why would it be empty today?

Looking forward to a report...
