When you're in a lousy mood or just not feeling well, what music do you listen to to perk you up? You can list artists, albums or specific songs, whatever you like.

Me, it has to be Great Big Sea, Gaelic Storm, or Weird Al. Today's rather a gloomy day here with pouring rain. I was trying to listen to That Darn Cat (yeah, the original), but it just wasn't doing it for me, so I put on Great Big Sea's album Play, and I'm feeling much better, especially after hearing the rollicking "The Night Pat Murphy Died." Gaelic Storm's "Drink The Night Away" also does it for me.

As for Weird Al, I just gotta put in Out of Lynwood, Poodle Hat or Running with Scissors, and I'm a happy camper. I was listening to the first one this morning, and one song in particular does it for me, "Weasel Stomping Day." It's such a morbid topic with cringe-inducing sound effects, but it never fails to make me crack up. The singers are just so darn chipper!

Oh, and one confession: Aqua's Aquarium. Yeah, the one that has "Barbie Girl." I can't help it. It just gets me going, lol.

Ok, interesting one. My list is:

The Country Bears Movie Soundtrack
La Isla Bonita by Madonna
Hotel California by the Eagles
Anything by the Bare Naked Ladies or They Might Be Giants
Give it Away by the Red Hot Chilli Peppers.

And I am sure there are many, many more!

I listened to the Singin' in the Rain soundtrack on my way into work this morning, because, as jasmine7 mentioned, it's raining cats and dogs here. Just seemed appropriate, ya know? That one always makes me feel kind of good about the nasty weather.

Pretty much all of my happy music is from soundtracks. "If I Were a Rich Man" from Fiddler on the Roof is always one that makes me just feel like getting up and at 'em. My Fair Lady and The Sound of Music are both always nice to hear, you know, when the dog bites, or the bee stings, or I'm feeling sad. You might even say they're a few of my favorite things. ;)

The '60s... The music from that decade - all kinds of genres - although I love music throughout time - makes me the happiest. :-)

Listening to music generally makes me sadder when I'm sad (go figure). I'll listen to sports, sports talk radio or news. Sometimes I can listen to the parks music.

Harry Belafonte - Jump in the Line

That song always makes me happy and get up and dance. :)
