And if you're not. Why not? It's chronicling the early NASA missions and it's fantastic.

You know what else I'm thinking of while watching this. We sent men to the moon with equipment and computers that were ancient by the mid 70's. And yet we can't find a way to come up with an alternate source of fuel for us to stop relying on. It's a little sad.

I'm watching it right now. Very good stuff... the Right Stuff, even. The only thing missing is the reason why we did it: to beat the pants off the Russians. It literally was a space race. If it hadn't been for the Soviet threat, we may not have gone when we did, if at all.

Which kind of makes you hope that China is working on sending a man to Mars so maybe that can give us the kick we need to get there first.

Great series. My dad is retired NASA, and when I was about 10 we were living in Houston and I remember we went out to an air base to see Apollo (I can't remember which one) astronauts come back. They were in the quarantine trailor that was pulled out the back of a big transport. I'll never forget that.

I also have a quote from Mike Collins in my 4th grade classroom..."It's human nature to explore...(mind blank - mine!)... Exploration is not a choice, it's an imperative."

We should have returned to the moon years ago.
