Again, I was in the area a week ago. I need to plan my trips so I can get to the barn. Doug, can you tell me who is in the picture. And did you write a note about them? Please give me a few details if you find time to do that. Thanks...pollyana And Thanks for all the pics and updates you bring us.

From the left...

Mrs. Claude Coats. Her late husband was an animator and talented designer of many early Disneyland attractions. She was in the Disney Ink and Paint department, starting in 1932.

Next to her is George McGinnis. His biggest credit (for us fans, anyway) is Horizons at Epcot. He also designed the Indy ride vehicles.

Next is Blaine Gibson. He just turned 90! He started as an animator in 1939. Walt discovered he is a talented sculptor. Blaine ended up sculpting many important AA figures. He is the artist who created the Partners statue that is found in the center of Disney theme parks.

Next to Blaine is X Atencio. X (for Xavier) wrote many unforgettable Disney theme park attractions (like Pirates and the Mansion). He wrote the lyrics to Grim Grinning Ghosts. You also hear his voice every time you go on these attractions. He is the man in the casket (Let me out! Let me out o' here!), the talking skull (There be squalls ahead... and Davy Jones locker waitin' fer them what don't obey!), and the voice you hear if the Doom Buggies come to a stop (Playful spooks have interupted our journey!).

The lovely lady next to X is Alice Davis. her husband, Marc Davis, was one of Walt's premiere animators. Alice is a talented costume designer. She dressed those evil pirates (AND the Redhead!) and the delightful children of small world.

The young man in the group is a budding Imagineer, Austin, who is apprenticed to Blaine Gibson. Next to him, on the end, is Bob Gurr. Bob was hired to create snazzy futuristic cars for Tomorrowland in 1954, and went on to create everything from the quaint vehicles on Main Street and the original Disneyland monorails. It is said that if it has wheels in Disneyland, Bob probably designed it.

Thank you so much Dland Doug. I wish I were there. I know I will coordinate our trips to include the Barn. That is on my list.....
