<<Beijing is very old and I can't even imagine how "unquakeworthy" those structures are in that huge town.>>

The government is tearing down a lot, if not most, of the old Beijing (in part due to the Olympics... gotta have the best face forward for all the foreigners comin' to town.) I don't know how much the government has put into making sure that new construction is earthquake resistant, though.

Wow I see the Earthquake part of the argument has gotten an interesting response. It obviously plays on a lot of people's minds at time.

But its not only Earthquakes to look at here, but why the average guest who has been before would want to visit so soon.

WDW currently saves you money on transportation, has by far the best line up of night time entertainment available at any Resort and lets not forget that weak dollar.

DLRP is having its best attendance ever at the moment and a big boost to this is all the great new attractions that its opened. Also I just booked a 4 night stay at the Santa Fe in November for a bargain price.

DLR again offers you a weak dollar, with plenty of cheaper hotel options all within walking distance of the Resort. And it too has opened a number of new attractions recently opened.

HKDL has just opened the Worlds newest Small World and is a park of true beauty and quality. It also offers Hong Kong the city within minutes. And flights are also cheaper.

I'm sure once additions like the TDL Hotel, Zed, Monsters, Tiki Room all open it will be a differnt story. But right now I'd rather visit one of the other Parks and Resorts, and thats rather sad to say this is TDR 25th Anniversary year.

<<its not only Earthquakes to look at here, but why the average guest who has been before would want to visit so soon.>>

TDL wasn't built to attract tourists from outside the country; a mere 4% of TDR's guests are from outside Japan. So until they need to start looking offshore for guests (as the Japanese population ages and there aren't enough office ladies to keep the resort afloat), OLC isn't going to spend a lot of effort trying to attract the not-so-average average guest who has been there before.

///a mere 4% of TDR's guests are from outside Japan///

Is that a fact? I would have thought at most 1%. But I'll assume you're right anyway since you have been very credible post after post.

Every day I have been in the two parks it seems that there are extremely few foreigners.

I got that number straight from OLC's site:

http://www.olc.co.jp/en/compan...dex.html

My guess is that it only seems like 1% because the majority of their foreign guests are other Asians.

My issue here is not how TDR promotes itself outside Japan. End of the day despite the poor job the company does, if people want to visit the Resort on holiday its not exactly rocket science to book. I recently recieved a free WDW planning DVD and it actually has a brief promo advertising TDR 25th Anniversary. People are fully aware the Resort exist and choose not to visit down to the cost.

My problem is I could visit but I'm choosing instead to visit WDW and DLRP later in the year because I don't see enough appeal in spending money on expensive airfare to a Resort that is celebrating its 25th Anniversary and from what many on here say is a bit of a miss.

The way I see it is that it doesn't matter if I'm a guest from outside Japan or not. If I don't feel the need to visit the Resort during its biggest celebration ever, why should people in Japan feel any differnt. I am also probarely in the same age group of many of these Female office workers, although not quite as devoted. Why would the many people who don't live around the Tokyo area and maybe vacation once or twice a year want to spend it at the Resort this year.

What other Disney resort lets you explore a magma control station?

The Japanese will (probably) still go because even if the 25th ain't all that, it is still closer and cheaper compared to traveling to DLR, WDW, etc.

So... I guess I can't give you a reason to go if you're not all that excited about it, don't wanna pay the cost, or whatever. Me, I'd go in a heartbeat, because I love Japan and would have a fantastic time without setting one toe in TDR (but I know I couldn't possibly stay away!)

I think we only have to look at the amount of feedback and buzz its recieved to realise no one cares that you can visit a magma control station and help save the volcano from erupting and killing everyone who visits TDS for the day.

I'd love to visit Japan tomorrow if I could but me being a Disney fan I would also have to tie it in with a trip to both parks. And we all know the reason why at this stage in time I don't wish to do that. If it wasn't for the fact it cost so much I would be more willing to visit now. I think once the tacky Anniversary finishes and the park gets back to normal I may make the trip out to Tokyo again.

By the way is it just me or is anyone else kind of not wanting to visit this year as a way to escape the Anniversary. I actually am starting to find the Anniversary with its tacky decorations and horrible music numbers a turn off. Even Jubilation with its incredible floats and costumes kind of puts me of due to the soundtrack, which is not my cup of tea.
