////I'm quite sure the OLC has sadly given in to some of the WalMarting/dumbing down that has happened to the US and European parks.////

I have been one of TDR's biggest defenders and advocates. I have been the one to tout its cleanliness, attraction lineups, food offerings and cast member performances but sadly shopping has slipped dramatically.

I tried to shop at Disney Sea and the items were nothing unique or nothing I found interesting.

The Disney Store in Ikspiri sold junk tailor made for 12 and unders.

Bon Voyage was atrocious too----- nothing was worth taking home---not one single item.

Dl shops showed me nothing as well--- I remember stuff for little girls.

Previously I saw and bought several items from TDR but not my very last trip in Feb.. I guess OLC is playing up to the *** mode*** of guest demographic which is the 10- 17 year old Japanese female.

<<< But, yeah, the resorts should be judged on their own merits. That's why I'll be going to HKDL as well this fall and judging that place on how it makes me feel as well as more tangible, objective criteria >>>

I actually look forward to hearing about your experiences, I've of course just got back from this park and I was very impressed by the Cast Members and the standard and quality.

<<< The 25th anniversary offerings, on second viewing, seemed even lamer and more disappointing though. Just not much to it. What a bummer!

The incredible, I just wanna give em all a hug and a thank you, enthusiastic, oh-so-Disney spirit and then some CAST MEMBERS who today, as usual, out shined all the rest in all the other resorts just with their simple enthusiasm, helpfulness, friendly smiles, and infectious enjoyment of just being in DISNEYLAND (Tokyo lol). >>>

Excellent reason right there X, and I agree with you 100%. The TDR Cast Members are the best in the world and do a great job of not only providing fantastic customer service but also are outstanding at enforcing the rules on to regular guest, so that everyone can enjoy the parade, or there time in the park in a safe manner.

Wasn't really thinking about that when I wrote it...but sure, they are very good with guest control as well (I was thinking more along the lines of the smiling and the enthusiastic friendliness).

Yeah sorry I did go a bit off topic in that regards, but the crowd control is always an area that impresses me at TDR.

Its not only the smiling and the enthusiastic friendliness but also the way a lot of these Cast Members will go out of there way a lot of the time for guest. For instance on my last trip, my TDR ticket fell out of my pocket with out me realising. A Cast Member noticed it picked it up and ran up to me to return the ticket with a huge smile on her face, handed it over, game me a bow and was on her way before I could say thanks. Sadly I just don't see the pratice repeating itself if it happen in Paris, DLRP, or DLR. I'm not saying that none of the Cast Members at any of these Resorts would not help you out or go out the way, but only a few would really offer you the service that you can find with all the TDR Members.

Often we will have people come online and praise the TDR and the company that operates it the OLC. But what we don't praise enough are the people who are responsible for the magic happening and that is not the OLC, but the TDR Cast Members.

Great example, Malin!

It was a windy day when we last went, and many of the examples of great service had to do with that as well. When peoples cups, napkins, and whatnot would fly away (inevitable at outdoor venues and along the parade route) I noticed that no guest was ever afforded the opportunity to go fetch their stuff (or not)...since every single time there was a cast member running after the trash, grabbing it and either returning it to the guest or, if just garbage, throwing it away quickly.

Just a lot of extra effort all around. (NONE of the CM's in this story were custodial, by the way)
