>>But who really makes the decision on a name of something....

Well, it is the SENIOR bosses, which is the Chief Executive Officer, the Board of Directors and their staff including marketing.<<
Ah, no. It's the folks who design and build 'em. You know, the ones who put up the signs on THE ACTUAL ATTRACTION.

>>And even then, Disney went out of its way at the 2 Main Press Events to make sure all the signage said "Toy Story Mania!", and that the invited Media used the TSM! name.<<
And then, when the invited media, at the official press round robins asked the question, "What is the actual name of this attraction," the answer was "Toy Story Midway Mania."

>>So to Corporate and its sub-division, the official name is "Toy Story Mania!", and that is THE name that is supposed to be used.<<
Then somebody better get the word to the folks who made all those signs (and there are plenty of 'em) that say Toy Story Midway Mania. And contact the editor of the Disneyland Line (the official cast publication) that has a cover story that proclaims "Have You Heard? Toy Story Midway Mania is Here!" The story inside consistently uses the attraction's correct name: Toy Story Midway Mania.

>>Is the official name of "The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror" really "The Hollywood Tower Hotel"?<<
No, because the name out front is "Twilight Zone Tower of Terror." Just as Toy Story Midway Mania is the name in front of that new attraction in DCA.

>>So "Some" shirts have it one way, and "Some" shirts have another...<<
All the shirts I have seen have the attraction's correct name: Toy Story Midway Mania.

Then again...

Maybe we really are all wrong about this.

Maybe we should ignore what the actual designers and builders of the attraction consistently say, and believe the marketing message. And that consistent message is:
Toy Story Mania, now open at Disneyland.

That's it. Toy Story Mania is at Disneyland. It says so on all the billboards down here. I've even seen the TV ads with the characters walking down Main Street USA and sneaking through a side door to get into the ride. That must be the way it is, because Marketing says so.

Then again, again...

This guy says that is all wrong. Over here:

Here are a few stills of the new commercial...

http://darkbeer.smugmug.com/ga...33_bqo6i

It starts with some of the Toy Story character going down Main Street at Disneyland.

Then they sneak into the attraction, through they digitally changed the attraction sign to say "Toy Story Mania!"

The characters play the game.

And then it ends with the plug to go see "Toy Story Mania!" at the Disneyland Resort.

Not one mention of DCA at all, and the only "visual" of an area is Disneyland.

Why is Disney marketing the ride in this manner???<<

Guess I just don't understand the inscrutable logic of all this.

Bother.

<So kids on the boards, POTC and IASW, last rows!! Write it down ;D.>

Pirates I can see, but iasw? It's so bright in there.

And making out in iasw with all those little blinking eyes-of-every-country looking at you? That's just wrong, man. ;)

Well after 11 trips around IASW by ourselves in a boat when Sarah and I were dating made me want to propose weeks later!

THAT'S what I'm talking about! See, Dabob2:

"Now's your moment
Floating in a blue lagoon
Boy, you better do it soon
No time will be better
She don't say a word
And she won't say a word
Until you kiss the girl"

(Don't knock it 'til you've tried it, young man :)

Oh, I've done it - in Pirates, definitely in Peter Pan (in the "star" room over Neverland - kind of a personal "thing" with us), on the Matterhorn, on Splash...

Just never on iasw. Something about all those blinking eyes <shudder>

All those places are good. But boy, I do miss ATIS and the People Mover!

LOL! Dabob2, just keep your eyes CLOSED, it'll be okay! :) Better yet...save it for Neverland. It's a much more romantic place, definitely. xoxo

Speaking of kissing, my wife and I made a rule last year that, whenever we see another couple kissing we have to kiss, too. This leads to quite a bit of kissing! Funnily enough, our 15 year old daughter, who pretends to be grossed out by her parents kissing, actually points out others kissing when we miss it!

Two words for our current Kissing Rule: "Creep Mode."

*LOL* Sounds odd if anyone who's not a Disneyland Dork is reading that... ;-)
