In response to Obama's call for a more civil campaign, MoveOn.org has dropped their 527.
While McCain shrugs and says that he simply can't police what the 527s for him will do. In other words. Let the SwiftBoating begin.
This campaign will once again show the Republicans to be the dogs they are.
The hubris the GOP has shown since Reagan is mind boggling.

They do it cause it works.

That much is true of any smear campaign, since time immemorial.

I really think that this time it won't work, and will backfire in their face. It only works to a small degree and if you use it lightly. It can sway a tight 50-50 election. But if your looking at a 75-25 election and the 25 side starts slamming the popular candidate, then they will look sad, pathetic, and my favorite desperate.
Particularly when the popular side doesn't have to stoop to such levels and can comfortably sit there pointing and laughing at their frothy opponents.
I expect DAR, Douglas, Woody, Plano and Mark to be in a complete arm flappiing tither.

Good for Obama we don't need that crap. I hope McCain will have a change of heart and do the same.

Good for you DAR. I have been saying all along that Propaganda tactics are dangerous. MoveOn and SwiftBaot atleast are upfront in their agenda. FOX News and MSNBC I think are more dangerous as they pass of agenda, if not downright propaganda, as news. And insert things like "Terrorist Fist Bump" and "Obama's Baby Mama" on a much deeper and insidous level. Much like MSNBC did to Hillary with stuff like "She wouldn't be where she's at if her husband didn't cheat on her". I will defend the crassless Shuster "Pimp" comment, because that is what they did. And in todays venacular it really isn't an insult to use the word, as much as an insult they would use their diaughter for political gain. The canididates pimp their daughters, their wives, their churches (big mistake this time on both sides), they even pimp their lapels.
The proper response from the Clinton camp would haev been something like, Yeah we let here put herself out there for me. And you know what, I am PROUD to have a daughter who not only will vote for me, but wants to support Me like Chelsea has done. Chelsea is a great kid and I am proud to have her on my team. And you know the best thing we got from Pimping her. (Have Chelsea turn around) "The flip down DVD player". (open a portable DVD player taped to her back.)

Here's a real winner. Obama has asked moveon.org to stop; McCain says he can't control scum like Floyd Brown. I can't even fathom how someone reads an article like that and still feels good about voting GOP this November. If you're a Republican you need to send a message to your party that this kind of thing won't be tolerated. Instead, it's quietly embraced as another way to win. It's pretty disgusting, really.

I'm happy that Obama did what he did and hope McCain will eventually follow suit. However I will still be voting based on the issues and not some tv ad. If you are voting on that that basis then it's best to stay home this November.

Wait a second, DAR. This seems like the ultimate double-standard from you. We routinely hear about how horrible moveon.org and dailykos are from you, and how they're "the left," etc. etc. You started a thread saying moveon has no brain.

But when the conservative equivalent comes along, your response is to say you won't be voting based on a TV ad? Huh? If you won't be voting based on a TV ad, then why the outrage over moveon? This really seems to expose just how far right your bias really is.

If I don't vote for Obama it won't be due to an idiotic "swift boat" ad. It will be based on the issues. And if I don't vote for McCain it won't going be based on the idiotic moveon ad. Again it's going to be the issues that are front and center.

***"It's all about reaching a tipping point," Mr. Brown said. "Swift Boats achieved the tipping point. I was part of a team that reached the tipping point in 1988. In 1992, we didn't reach it. We might not this time. But that doesn't mean we're not going to try."***

Wonderful. The guy all but admits that he was personally responsible for gaming two elections.

***Enter Mr. Brown, who says it is his calling to tread where the campaign is unwilling to tread in finding malicious gossip on a Democratic nominee.***

Another true patriot.
