With all the positive changes we've witnessed lately at the Resort, I think its time the food dept got its act together and start changing the quality in food available to eat at the Counter Service Restaurants. The burgers are often cold by the time you've collected them and made it over to your table, while the quality is similar to that found at Mcdonalds. Pizza's again are nothing to shout home about and the selection is more or less the same in each counter service restaurant. It offers in my opinion a very repetive menu, lacking in any originality. I think the fare at Buzz Lightyears Pizza Planet is good and unique but the place is hardly ever opened now days. Would it hurt the Resort to put out a few salads and pasta's while improving on the selection available already, and offering some pre made deserts that are not packaged by a yogurt brand. Just my opinion what do you think!

I agree to an extent.

On the whole there isn't that great a selection, but there are venues that offer something a little bit different such as Fuente del Oro (that name sounds wrong, but you know what I mean) or the Cowboy Cookout BBQ.

Our family all agree that the pizzas are very good for counter service and the family meal at Hathi's is a bargain.

We will avoid the burgers at all cost though and Videopolis is apalling.

I think you have to take the rough with the smooth, Main St offers some nice choices with Victoria's being a personal favorite.

We usually eat in the village on WDSP day!!!

Is WDSP that bad?

No good choices at all?

What kind of Pizza's do they serve? By that I mean, is it a personal "slice", or a small "personal pizza" or something? What kind of toppings are offered?

I'm curious to talk about this, since I just had some good/bad food experiences at TDL and it would be kinda fun to compare (I'd put the pizza in the "good" category...but I wanna hear more about this one before I comment further...).

Here's a comparison piece I just wrote on the recent TDL offernings.

Actually, I left out the pizza (which was pretty good, we bought it in Fantasyland and it was one personal sized piece of pineapple and ham pizza...pretty good but it cost about 4 bucks for that one slice).

I agree whole heartedly with UKFAN's assessment. I almost always eat table service because the counter service is so poor.

Fuente del Oro is my counter of choice, followed by Cowboy Cookout BBQ (though they have reduced the BBQ offerings in favour of burgers - booo). Casey Corner's is ok too. Toad Hall is ok,but I do not want overprices Fish and Chips on vacation.

X - the pizza offerings vary. In Col. Haiti's and Buzz, they are individual mini pizzas (poor quality), whereas at Belle Notte, they sometimes do reasonable quality family size.

Toppings tend to be Cheese and Tomato, Pepperoni and sometimes either a veggie or Hawaiian.

As for the Studios, they food is very poor. The Croque Monsieur at Backlot is ok, but nothing to write home about. Counter service is poor.

Is the Croque Monsieur table service? Are there any others there?

The croque monsieur is a dish at backlot express (and all over france). It is melted cheese on toast (sometimes it uses cream too)

The food at wdsp is really poor. I have to say though, I have never tried Rendevous de Stars because the menu has always looked overprice and boring. When one can walk to a quiet annette's for an awesome burger and chilli dog, or King Ludwigs for schnitzel and german beer, Chicago Steak house for filet mignon, or the usual RFC, Planet Hollywood, or Cafe Mickey with good stone baked pizzas. All of these options with no waiting, staying in WDSP is pointless.

If we had a place similar to the Brown Derby, Sci Fi Dine In, or 50's Prime Time or a new theme experience, then we would stay.

Although I defend WDSP, I do not defend the dining.

The sliced Bacon and Pineapple Pizza and the Pizza's at the Zambini brothers are incredibly tasty and I would swap these for the DLRP pizza's any day. The pizza at DLRP is average at best.

The only area where DLRP Counter Service matches TDR is in the Hot Dogs. Very very tasty and what I tend to do now days is eat a full table service meal, for the same reasons as Dave does and maybe purchase a footlong hotdog on the way out at closing.

Its not only the poor Counter Service options but also the fact so much of the snacks availble to buy though out the parks is brand name stuff. For instance the ice creams available to purchase are items you could buy at any shop in Europe like Magnums and Cornetto's.

One slight amendment to what Dave said - Col Hathi's does serve family size pizzas as my family shared one last summer.

When we went there in April and had fantastic service. I actually slightly prefer it to the Bella Notte.

I also have never eaten at Rendez-Vous des Stars for the exact same reasons as Dave!!!
