I'm at a stoplight on my way home and the dude next to me is driving a Prius. Okay I can get with that looking out for the environment, that's cool. But then he lights a cigarette up with the windows closed. That didn't make any sense to me. He's obviously showing concern for the environment but not enough for his own body?? There's some weird cats on this planet.

Personally, it doesn't bother me if somebody drives a Prius as long as the do it in designated spaces.

You don't buy a Pruis because you care about the environment, you buy one because 1) you have no pride and 2) you want to save money on gas so you can afford cigarettes. The environment is the furthest thing from your mind. Really!

I don't know about the having no pride, but I agree. It's to save money on gas. How many people actually buy a Prius because they care about the environment??

Oh, and how does smoking mean you don't care about the environment? I mean, I don't smoke and never have, but I used to do habitat restoration for a living, and a lot of people I worked with smoked. Oh wait, those weren't cigarettes........

I think the term is "Organic Refreshments"

Yeah I'm not driving a Prius to help the environment. I'm driving it to save some $$. I have a 60 mile (one way)commute. It adds up really fast. By moving from my Ford Explorer ( I loved that truck) to my Toyota Prius, I went from 20ish MPG to 45 MPG.

Possibly saving the world is just an added benefit.

I'm sure you all realize that the "pride" part was just a joke. The other half wasn't. Almost no one buys one solely to save the environment, but, it does sound less selfish, almost noble! Sort of like Bio-diesel. My goodness we are a comical species.

It's certainly possible for one to be self-loathing while at the same time be environmentally or "world" conscious.

Just look at any and all members of PETA. ;)
