Unless you're staying at one of the Disney hotels, you can't make advance reservations for the lunch or dinner shows in TDL, such as at the Polynesian Terrace. This is true even if you're staying at one of the 6 official hotels on-site.

So, all other guests must make same-day reservations at the show venues. My understanding is that these are gobbled up almost immediately upon park opening, as enough guests that enter at park opening make their "morning dash" to these locations to secure reservations for later that same day.

So my question is: is admission media required for all guests that you want to make a reservation for, or for any guest? I would think that no admission media would be required to make a reservation in person, but I'd like to confirm this with someone that knows for sure. The reason for this question is that for a group of two or more people, the obvious thing to do during the morning dash would be to send one person to the show venue to make reservations, and another person to a popular attraction to get FastPasses for the entire group, which means that that person would need everyone's admission media.

In April I was the one who made the "morning dash" to make the reservations. I didn't need admisssion media for anyone. Simply went, made the reservation for three people, and then met my other two friends in WB. You do have to pay up front for the meal when you make the reservation. I think it was like 8200 yen for the three of us.

One other thing I forgot to mention...it is a long dash from the main gate to where you make the reservations. I fourth in line at my gate when the park opened, went straight there, and was one of the last to get a lunch reservation. Boy do the Tokyo Disneyland guests move fast.

It was a nice show and the food was good. Worth the dash.

SD - NeverlandClub is right. You don't have to present ticket media to buy the dinner theater tickets.

Worth noting that the evening shows are not as popular as the lunchtime shows - that first one (which is before 11am typically) is the most popular and they decrease in popularity as the day goes on. The Terrace holds 230 people and they show the lunchtime version three times daily and the evening show four times nightly. Also the Diamond Horseshoe is the more popular of the two venues. My point is that on a quieter day at TDL all of the evening tickets are not usually snapped up before the first show is run.

For a reason that I can't explain the lunchtime show is longer (the exact opposite of how the Diamond Horseshoe is operated). Polynesian Paradise is a nudge over an hour and 3,700 yen each.

I've never seen any of the four shows: are they any good? Which is a better venue: Tahitian Terrace or Golden Horseshoe? Any general opinions would be appreciated since I might try and finally do one of these on my October trip.

Both places are nice, but I personally found the Poly show to be much more relaxing and leisurely (this was a long time ago though, I don't know if things have changed).

Golden Horseshoe felt a little rushed, but it was a fun show. Gotta go with the hot bellydancers though, if you ask me. ;)
