As a point of reference though - take a look at the comic-con site - they're the largest - they've just posted their final schedule late last week and their convention begins on the 23rd - so we've got plenty of company.>>>

True enough -- but even a week can make a big difference.

and, since we are on the topic, a four day ticket to Comic Con is only $75.

Kimber~~

Correct me if I'm wrong, the Business Meeting scheduled for Saturday, July 19th at 8:30am is the Annual Meeting right? It is also open to any member of the NFFC, not just those attending convention.

Thirty minutes doesn't seem like a lot of time for the Board to cover all the business with the members. I know I have a few questions for the Board myself. The first will be about the numbers. How many people are attending this years convention (full packages and day packages) compaired to the last few years. I don't just want the answer that we are up, down, or close, but the actual numbers.

Comic-Con might have just posted their final schedule last week, but I wouldn't compare it to the NFFC. Comic-Con has hundreds of seminars while the NFFC has 11 seminars plus 5 meal/events. I think their schedule is much harder to put together.

When it comes to comic-con, size most certainly has its advantages - when an event is so large that they can fill an entire convention center they can charge what they want - I understand that vendor space, which pays the bills for the event - for the show is considerably more than we charge.

Quite frankly I think we provide a great value for the money. I'd come for the seminars alone.

See ya there!

Comic-com and the nffc are two different animals. There is tremendous industry support for comic con, not just one main company for the nffc. Anyone who says they are happy they aren't involved in the nffc anymore just never got it. Between the chapters and the events there is a lot of things for everyone. Comic-con takes over the entire San Diego convention center, even when the disney company was putting on there own conventions they never came close to that. the NFFC is still the best bet for my money. It has been around for 24 years and that's saying a lot. Sure things don't stay the same but the whole disneyana universe has changed a lot in 24 years and keeps changing. The trip to Tokyo was a once in a lifetime event and it was great that the NFFC was able to present it. No other Disneyana group could do the same thing. Tonight was first night of convention and the opening reception was a blast. And with what people spend on going to the parks and collecting the cost of membership and convention are reasonable.

Although I have sent an email to the contact address from the NFFC website I thought I would post this here too. Does anyone know if the Tony Baxter event is open to any convention regestrant or do you have to have a 'full' registration? The reason I ask is because Thursday is a 'free' day with no formal activities and therfore you could not buy a ticket for Thursday only. I purchased a Saturday only ticket but have Thursday off from work and would like to attend the Tony Baxter event. If anyone knows please post here!

Also, why can't the NFFC use email to notify members of changes? In all the years I have provided them with my email address I have only received a few emails. It's the easiest way to get to a lot of people fast.

Hey NeverlandClub -

Come prepared to ask any questions you'd like - we'll make as much time as you need - and you can always ask any member of the board any question you'd like to at any time - if you have a concern drop us an e-mail - board@nffc.org. We'll get back to you.

That's what we're there for.

See ya there!

Kim

It will be nice to see members have questions at the board meeting. I have attended many of them and numerous times not one person has asked anything. So I am surprised that anyone is concerned about it, they always ask if anyone has questions and they always are very open and honest with there answers.
