There are always things we can do better I am sure, but trust me, everyone who does volunteer to serve the club either on the Board, SEC or in other areas works very hard for all of our members. Given the state of the economy and the projected outlook of things everyone is very pleased with the numbers. Also people are really turning out for the Ryman Arts event on Saturday evening. So many details need to be worked out for everything and sometimes the wheels of progress turn slowly, but again I realy feel the hearts and souls of everyone involved in keeping this Club fresh and exciting are in the right place.

The past few years all SEC meetings and Board meeting have been announced on the NFFC site and all members are welcome to attend. Have they???? Yes, but only one or two. I understand some of your frustrations with things, but step up and help or attend meetings. Yes, maybe feelings will be slighted now and then or even hurt....trust me, over the past 24 years all of us on the Board or SEC have had our feeling hurt....however we express our concerns, sometimes are shot down by the majority, which after all is how things work in our society, and then move on. And the great part is when we all get together at Convention or at an event, it is just so much fun to see everyone. I can't begin to tell you the happy faces, cries of laughter and excitement that were expressed yesterday at registration seeing people you only get to see maybe once or twice a year. I wouldn't trade it for the world.

Can we improve things? Sure, and we know it. Will we discuss these comments? You bet. Hang in there and don't give up. We are already talking about our 25th Anniversary next year. It is going to be exciting.

Keep the feedback coming, but please for the sake of everyone keep it positive and constructive. There are people on the Board who have been there for this club since Day 1. There passion for this organization is so strong, and you should be proud that these individuals have stayed so strong and dedicated.

Again, join us. Elections are next year and there is always room on the board for new faces and ideas. However it seems whenever we seek new talent for the board it is so very difficult to find people willing to serve....thank goodness most of the "old guard" steps up to the plate.

The NFFC is going to be around for a long time because of our faithful and generous members. I personally can't thank everyone enough for the support you show for this wonderful Club.

OK, I'm stepping down from the Soap Box now because I have to get over the the Crowne Plaza for an exciting day today.

See you there I hope.

>>The trip to Tokyo was a once in a lifetime event and it was great that the NFFC was able to present it. No other Disneyana group could do the same thing<<

The Once Upon a Classic club did go to Japan as a group. They were working directly with Disney & got all sorts of cool things to do.

Yes, NFFC got to do Club 33 (which no other outside group been able to do) but OUAC got to do backstage tours - which the NFFC did not.

The one "Special" thing that NFFC was promoting (besides Club 33) for their tour, was the group photo in front of the castle. Tokyo Disneyland never allows groups of more then 10 to do group photos. We were all told several times about the photo & yet, when it came time for it - apparently we never were apporoved to do that to start with.

Several of us would have rather done backstage tours then Club 33 if we had the choice between the two. Club 33 is just a meal after all.

On another topic - can't someone answer dlpostcardguy regarding :

>>Does anyone know if the Tony Baxter event is open to any convention regestrant or do you have to have a 'full' registration?<<

He has asked twice & emailed the board & as of last night, has not been answered.

as Kimber said <<you can always ask any member of the board any question you'd like to at any time - if you have a concern drop us an e-mail - board@nffc.org<<

dlpostcardguy -

Unfortunately only conventioneers registered prior to Thursday's event are eligible to attend - that would be those registered for a Golden Dream or a Silver Dream package.

Thanks,

Kim

I want to make it clear that I am a strong supporter of the NFFC. I do appreciate the board and the hard work. My criticism is meant to be constructive and always be meant to make it better and not to wish harm to it. I think that is true of everyone posting here.

With that said - I hope the NFFC web site will get a facelift. It is hard to negotiate and hard to find current information without digging through forums. I also got booted for not recalling my password after 3 tries and I'm not sure what I'm supposed to do to re-instate it. LP's site is designed to recognize you when you come to it without having to log in each time - that would be a nice feature of the NFFC site and would probably increase traffic.

I'm probably crabby too because I am not able to attend so many of the daytime events because of work. However, I am going to try and make it to more evening events, if only in an effort to keep DH from standing on his head while singing "Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow" anymore ;)

Well when I asked the volunteers about the photo it had been approved but the information was not passed on properly to the staff at the park, things do happen. And I will continue with my remark that only the NFFC was able to present what they did. I was quite happy with what they presented, the chance to buy Club 33 merchandise. Also the price was a lot less then OUAC, if the membership wants backstage tours we should ask the NFFC to look into it for next time.

The SEC and Board meetings being announced on the NFFC site is a wonderful idea. It's great to see the NFFC having it's own site, but I have to agree with DlandJB that the site is very hard to negotiate. It takes forever to find information. Making the site more user friendly will encourage members to use it more.

"whenever we seek new talent for the board it is so very difficult to find people willing to serve"

I have volunteered to be on two different committees in the past. Providing my name, phone number, and e-mail address and have never been contacted. One of these committees was in the last year. You say that it is difficult to find people willing to serve, but when I have wanted to help I get no information on doing it. I have no idea if the committee ever was formed. If it was decided later that the committee was not going to happen, those who volunteered to be on it should be contacted and told.

"the photo it had been approved but the information was not passed on properly to the staff at the park" Curiousfan~~ I was personally told by someone on the SEC that the photo was never approved in the first place. They were trying to get it approved, but that clearance was never given.

Kimber you said, "Please feel free to find any member of the Board and we'll be happy to listen." In April, when I brought a concern to the attention of a Board member the response I got was simply, "Oh well, you can't please everone." I wasn't just complaining about something, but offering an oppion on the event and how it could be improved in the future. While it's true that you can't please everyone, I feel the response just told me that it doesn't matter what I think, that events will be done how they want and live with it. This wont keep me from offering my feedback in the future, but for many members of the NFFC it would.

OK - let me rephrase that - please feel free to bring your concerns to me - kpetersennffc@aol.com or kim@nffc.org - and I will gladly tack down an answer and get back to you.

As to nffc.org - please believe that we are working on it even as we type. Any ideas or suggestions you might have on ways to make the site more user/member friendly are greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Kim

I'm glad to hear that the nffc.org site is being worked on. It is the fastest way to get information out to the members. I would suggest on the main page to have head lines of breaking news/information with a direct link to the information. The information can also be included in the forums for members to discuss. Much like LaughingPlace does, after all, this is an easy site to navigate.
All times are Pacific Time (US)

Note: Information on the discussion boards is sometimes based on rumors or incorrect information and should not be assumed true. Messages do not necessarily reflect the opinion of LaughingPlace.com or its editors.
