I want to thank the NFFC for putting on a very fine convention this year. Although I did not get to attend as many seminars ane events as I would have liked to, I know that there were some good ones and heard nice things about them.

I know the surveys collected will be reviewed and that new ideas will be considered.

Most of the Board members, including the ones that post here, are very responsive and showed their care for the interest and concerns of the membership. That is very much appreciated.

The Show and Sale was also great fun.

Thanks DlandJB for our kind words. It was an incredible few days. I know the Board and SEC will look over the comments very carefully, and I am confident you will all see great things happening over the next few months.

As we look forward to our 25th Anniversary in 2009, I am confident we are all in for some exciting times and memories with the NFFC.

By the way even though I could only spend a few minutes in the Hospitality Suite last night, it looked great, and everyone was having a great time.

Thanks -- The Chapter at the Park was very happy to sponsor the Saturday night Hospitality Suite. We had two door prize drawings -- one duffle and tote of Tinkerbell goodies (with some items signed by Tinkerbell body model Margaret Kerry) and the other a duffle/tote of Mickey Mouse items.

In addition, Chapter members brought in display items of "Disneyland Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow"

I want also to thank the Studio Chapter for their fine Hospitality Suite on Friday evening and for the special members of the NFFC SEC committee who oversee the Hospitality Suite and continue the magic beyond the daytime events.

I just got home a few hours ago, and as a long-time NFFC member, I'm going to try to fight through the jet lag to give a bit of perspective to this discussion.

Convention communication to the membership has ALWAYS been a problem. When I attended my first convention in 1988, I'd heard nothing about the program. We got zero information -- which was why changes were made shortly thereafter.

So communication has improved over the years ... but so has technology. Now we have the tools to do even better, but someone has to step and do it.

And I'm sure someone will, because someone always has during the past 22+ years I've been a member. (But you don't want me doing it; when I got home, I realized my VCR hadn't recorded any of the six programs I'd programmed into it because I'd forgotten to put a tape in.)

I always leave a convention feeling a bit guilty because I hadn't done more to help out. And this year I did very little, because I had friends travelling with me.

Every time I stop and think about what goes on around me at a convention, I get a bit awestruck. Between the sheer numbers of people involved (many of whom who have to continue working during that week), to the technical aspects of setting up the AV equipment and moving the TVs from room to room, to decorating for the special events(I'd dearly like to take home one of those centerpieces, but they won't fit in my suitcase), to the planning for all the programs, I've always thought the people who put these conventions on do a remarkable job year after year. (And over the years, we've gone through several iterations of leadership.)

So for future conventions, I figure I have two choices: volunteer more, or try not to think about it as much.

For Bob and anyone else who wants to help out at our Conventions or other events - all you have to do is ask! :) Even if all you have time to do is help to move a TV between rooms, spend a couple of hours taking tickets at the Show and Sale after you've finished your own shopping, or volunteer to write an article or provide photos about Convention, any offer of help is greatly appreciated.

As I remember, I think offering to help is how I eventually got roped into this whole serving on the Board of Directors thing. ;)
