In the main, I like DCA. Personally instead of characters, they should really throw themselves into the California theme - instead of the LM, a Cal History AA dark ride. Carsland as a route 66 area with realistic cars, instead of the fairground characterisation, make it a perfect vision of turn of the century entertainment.
How many LPers love Disneyland because of the animation? Personally I always preferred Loony Tunes (blasphemy, I know) |

TO me DL was about a cruise through the jungle, visiting New Orleans and it's pirate and spiritualy inhabitants, exploring the frontier - by boat, foot, or train (and seeing Cancan girls). Careeninig down a materhorn bobsleigh run. Travelling through liquid, inner and outer space. Seeing dinos from a steam train. Great themed shows, restaurants and shoping. In the banquet of DL, the characters were always the parsley. |

That is reality... as good or bad as it is.

| dshyates Tue 7/8/2008 1:03p | Just like everything else Disney does, they know no moderation. They will push the characters until we want to puke. Its the Disney way. It was born out of the same logic that keeps me from going to Disney anymore. The hard pressure money grubbing is omnipresent these days and turns my stomach. There really is no effort put into quality entertainment as a product, there is always now a product in the product. Its all advertising for one product inside of a product you already paid for. Its like inserting Wall.E into every scene in Snow White DVD. Artistic integrity be damned. Rides are nothing but advertising opportunities to Disney these days. |

| Hista98 Tue 7/8/2008 1:09p | which is disapointing. when disneyland first opened they didn't have charecters at all, except for the dark rides which didn't have them either |

No, but it does add one more bean to the hill. That's whole problem with this new mandate: everything is saturated with character franchises. It's not just happening at DCA either. |

To be fair, they are removing the Mickey silhouette from Screamin' and replacing it with a vintage looking sign that will say "Paradise Pier". So you could view this as more of a move than an all out new character addition. |
