I still don't understand why they can't pump air to the other cabins with light weight plastic hoses from the existing air conditioners in the nose and tail cones. Simular to air craft cabins. |

And they can't operate in temps over 80 degrees.
Gee. Real good design work here!! Who's running this mickey mouse operation? ;) |

Had they been designed that way from the start, it would probably work. However, I'm sure that the A/C units used in the nose and tail are optimized for the small areas that they serve. Trying to spread that out through the rest of the train (along with proper return ducts) would probably be physically unreasonable. |

| oc_dean Fri 7/11/2008 2:04p | And I'd like to know what in the heck they plan to do with the other 2 Mark VIIs?
Shut all 3 down when it gets too hot .. and just keep the lone Mark V even when it gets beyond the point of being trash for Wall*E to compact?
What a total fiasco!
They got from Mark I through Mark VI (WDW) just fine ......... But somewhere along the way ....... they got to this?! |

You're talking RECYCLED air there. No thanks ;) |

| oc_dean Fri 7/11/2008 2:08p | The 2nd Mark VII sits in the round house ... and they are probably scratching their heads what to do.
Then there's "Number 3" ... is it even in construction right now?
Even if they are halfway through in that facility in Canada .. I would think they have completely HALTED #3 until all these issues are corrected.
Question? Did the same people who made TL98, DCA, Pooh, and Light Magic head up this project????? ;) |

| Hans Reinhardt Fri 7/11/2008 2:17p | The problem isn't the lack of air conditioning. This issue is the design of the windows, which was most likely a last minute change to comply with new California safety laws to prevent people from sticking their arms out. They really really need to rethink the entire DL Monorail System from the ground up. |

You are absolutely right! IF they cannot have a similar window design as in previous monorail designs .. then they ought to seek out full A/C systems for all 5 cars.
They simply can't shut the monorail system down every time the temps go over 80! And they can't keep the lone Mark V forever! This is Southern CA where temps hitting over 80 in Anaheim is pretty constant year round. We even get heat spells in the (so called) winter months.
All this ... because us animals called "humans" can't keep our stinking paws and other parts from doing stupid things. ;)
And since we are not hearing a single peep on the Peoplemover 2.0 project ... we can pretty much guess they are having the same issues with a design .. as the monorails are. |
