Topic: POD changes for next year.

1	Mr F Wed 8/20/2008 9:56p	I've heard from fellow parades CM's that the Parade of Dreams is going to have some major for next year. They said these changes were suddenly anounced to them one ramdom day. POD is supposed to go down for two weeks in the spring so that Main Street can be repaved. When it re-opens, it's going to be a lot different: - The Opening Unit Float will Be Replaced with a completely new float. Since the plan is to eventually ship this Parade to Florida, the opening float must be replaced since the Magic Kingdom's Train Station does not match the current Opening float, which was modeled after Disneyland's Train Station. - The show stop music will be completely changed along with the choreography. - Tinkerbell will be relocated to the castle balcony on the finale float where Mickey & Minnie currently stand, And the mice will be moved down to either the lower part of the float, or onto the ground. - A new "Celebrate Today" cavalcade will be performed in the park. These changes are to coinside with the new "Celebrate Today" Promotion which Disney Parks are doing for next year. Since this Parade was originally Designed and themed to Disneyland's 50th Aniversary, the changes are being made so the parade will be more relevant to the new iniesitive &2 pre-package the Parade and get it ready for it's eventual move to Florida. Does anyone else know anything about this.

3	submarine-maniac Wed 8/20/2008 11:24p	I've come to the point where I don't believe a lot of rumors us CMs spread around. haha. I have heard a lot of ridiculous rumors form CMs such as, Fantasmic will have the Columbia changed to Jack Sparrow instead of Peter Pan (Even though I'm sure some people on LP would love to see that, we know it isn't happening). I'm not saying that the rumors of POD are not true, but it does sound kind of strange that they were told some random day. Also, what sense does it make to change the parade to fit Florida before it leaves Anaheim? And why would Mickey and Minnie move to the lower part of the float, or even stranger, the ground? They are the "stars" of the parade and it just makes no sense to me. Anyways, once again, I'm not saying your information is wrong, it just seems strange to me. I look forward to hearing what others have to say. Maybe someone out there has more information than I do.
4	wonderingalice Thu 8/21/2008 12:09p	I heard the same rumor, but with the full name of the promotion: "Celebrate Today - Armageddon Tomorrow!" Featuring a special "At World's End" segment in honor of the next dunderhead elected to the White House. ;-)
5	Witches of Morva Thu 8/21/2008 3:11p	ORDDU: My sisters and I had heard similar rumor about Parade of Dreams going to Florida. More recently we heard ANOTHER rumor which claims the Parade of Dreams will NOT be going to Florida, after all, due to budget cuts, etc. So it remains to be seen what will actually happen.

7	Hista98 Mon 8/25/2008 3:24a	no but in all seriousness, they won't probably be redoing pod. the parade is pretty much falling apart already and i don't see them wanting to spend money to make changes to a parade thats falling apart. The plan right now is to let it play out through christmas, then retire it forever, after christmas they were supposed to debut a new parade called world of wonder, but that has been pushed back to 2010, due to the complexity of the floats ( there being built by the same people who made pixar play parade and have lots of moving parts) so for 2009, it's either going to be no parade or just same old POD as it is today!! btw the world of wonder is supposed to be really cool, and will feature one float for each land at disneyland I.E the adventureland float will have a rolling boulder. granted this is just what i've hered on websites and should not be thought of as official.
8	zekeayala Mon 8/25/2008 5:46a	wow...i heard they were trying to do this as part of next years promotion...but i didnt think they were actually going to go through with it... i think that the "celebrate today" theme is kind of cool...but i think DLR should just lay low on the celebrations right now...the park hasnt been able to breath for almost 4 years now...they should just let it be same old Disneyland....
9	dresswhites Tue 8/26/2008 12:52a	if the pod doesn't go to disneyworld does that mean they will still be stuck with share a wish parade or whatever it is called. that seems to been going on forever. i saw it when i was at the park in early 04, and i think it was already a couple years old. i saw youtube of the slightly revamped parade, and the music is absolutely dreadful. it very grating. poor Magic Kingdom. wasn't the last big attraction when splash mountain opened? and they can't even get a new parade.
10	Mr F Sat 11/15/2008 11:54a	YUP, it was confirmed today in a Meeting for Entertainment cast members. POD will be getting a new Show stop with new music, The new show stop song is called "Celebrate you", and the opening float is getting some cosmetic changes as well, including the addition of colorful balloons to the back side, and new signage on the front. Well have to wait and see what other changes come. Nobody believed me when I first announced these changes but I was right!
