So 2009 has no DL parade scheduled? Has there ever been a time when DL didn't have a parade scheduled to run at least once every single day?

Don't get me wrong - POD was a stiff and I'm glad to see it go, but I can't imagine a DL day without a parade on main street.

There will be an "event" most of the year, the "Celebrate Today" Street Party, which might become bit more of a parade when it premieres, as it will be taking over the POD slot.

There were several weeks before the 50th (I think in Jan or Feb of 05) when they were working on the pavement near the Matterhorn. They had a fairly generic character calvacade during that time with princesses and stuff (using the princess float from the Christmas parade, sans Christmas decorations) that ran up Main Street to the castle, did a breif show stop, and came back down the street, exiting where it had entered (next to the hat shop).

From what I've heard, there will be a repaving project will take over Main Street from January through March of next year. I don't know what effect that will have on the parade, but I expect it will mean it will be pretty small for at least the first few months. They could probably run the floats out from the northern edge of Main Street (next to the corndog place) and up toward iasw, or just bring it down it's a small world mall to the hub, where it would basically turn around and head back. From the title of 'street party', it sounds like it might be something small enough where that might be a viable option. I would guess they could probably fit 3 or 4 floats in the street around the hub, plus a lot of dancers who could move around to help 'squish' it into the circle so it could turn around. I don't know any real specifics about what they have planned, but it seems to me that it could definately be half the size of POD and all work out, if they're clever about it.

And there will be a HUGE new DL themed parade coming for the 55th that sounds wonderful.

Is WDW still getting the PoD parade?
