The Japanese really have the edge in tech, don't they? :p |

Like any magic trick (and it is most certainly a magic trick in the traditional sense of the word), the method is mundane and disappointing if you know how it works. It exists to make you wonder. The method is just mechanics. The answer is on the internet, but believe me it's disappointing when you find it. Magic is only amazing when the method is a secret. Trust me. I know--I'm the editor and publisher of the oldest independent magazine in the world devoted to magic and magicians.
But, if you want to know from a magician's point of view just how good the illusion of Shiriki Utundu disappearing is, I can tell you that it's one of the most amazing things I've ever seen. Particularly because you can stand virtually next to it and not see anything. I love it--it makes me smile. |

| The Goddess Mara Fri 8/22/2008 8:46a | Incorrect ... I do know how it works. Frankly, re my point above, I wish I didn't. It was more fun not to know. |

| SuperDry Fri 8/22/2008 9:37a | It is quite an amazing effect. Having seen it several times in person, and staring directly and intently at it, I still can't be sure how it's done, although I think I now have an educated guess. |

No need to be rude about it phruby, these guys are only protecting you from being dissapointed. If you must know the Idol drops down when the lights turn dark. You can see it quite clearly depending on where in the room you stand. |

| The Goddess Mara Fri 8/22/2008 2:11p | Interesting, Malin, because I've never seen it go. There are things WDI is doing to give you the impression that the statue is still there, I believe, even after it's gone. |

| Malin Fri 8/22/2008 2:26p | Its certainly a very convincing effect and its only after I heard about how its done that I actually noticed it myself. Its such a convincing effect that people still don't fully believe it. There was a YouTube video that clearly showed how the effect was done but I'm unable to find it. When I did the attraction last time, I clearly did see it drop, but I'm suprised to read from others who havn't notice it. Makes me think it may depend on where in the room you stand. |
