| actingforanimators Sat 5/11/2002 6:45p | Great idea, guys. I heartily agree. I think the sketchbook series is only partially sufficient, and that model sheets, particularly a chance to see rough and final clean-up approved model sheets, would make a very handsome volume. The only thing preventing this may be the ferocity with which the Eisner era studio protects production art of that nature. However, I'm hoping to get Wendy Lefkon at Disney Press to do an interview with me to talk about her work and upcoming projects, and I'll take this suggestion to her along with any others. Thanks for the response. Hope you enjoyed the Canemaker review/interview. r.w. |

How about a COFFEETABLE - white pine, with black imprinted model sheets all over it, preserved with a heavy lacquer?
I think I might have to make myself one of those... |

| RagtimeGal Mon 11/24/2003 11:18p | actingforanimators, Wow! Can words say how much I dug on your interview? :D
It made me wish I would have bought this book the spring it was released so that this topic would still be fresh enough to let the whole of these discussion boards know how much I loved it. I'm so glad he did this book. It was about time somebody did. There are, of course, alot of good authors out there today covering topics about Disney, but I think Canemaker has a gift for tasting something and spitting it to you with the same intended flavour it began with.
Oh, and I need I say that I'm with you 110% for a cofee table book covering info on Bill Tytla? I'm not just saying that because I think Tytla was a good-looking man, I'm saying that because I wish I could reinforce this request with actual information other than a list of his contributions to Disney's animation department (see how badly this book needs to be made?). I've heard tale of his ability to bust into character with Stromboli, and that character trait in itself must surely make him all that much more interesting. I know it does for me! :)
If you were serious when you made that remark in your article, I for one would definately support you. The next time you see Canemaker see if you can encourage him to tell the world that Vladimir Tytla was more than just a pretty face, but a volcano of depth, vision & talent. :)
